We are renting points from a girlfriend and have been placed on a waiting list for WL and BC for the week of May21-26. She is in the hospital with her new born baby who is very sick and I could never ask her to look into how long the waiting list is for these to resorts. Is there anyone who could look into this for me.. also has anyone ever got the resort they wanted when they have been placed on the waiting list. Thanks so much if anyone could do this.

There is no way to see where you are on the waitlist. It will even depend on how you were waitlisted (for the entire stay, or daily/automatic). DVC will not tell members where they are on the waitlist (too many variables) and there is no way for one member to get any information for you about a reservation pending with another member. She would have to check that for you.

Good luck with your reservation.

Good luck to your friend and her new baby too!

I'm waitlisted for BCV for May 2-6 (but am staying at the BWV which is ok) and called and asked. Was told that when you're closer to the 31 day period (that's the cancellation period) is when they'll know if your waitlist will come through.
Good luck. I've just taken the attitude I'm glad where I got....the other is just a bonus.

I've never known DVC to give out any info as to where one is on the waiting list. But we have seen many reports of people on the list calling DVC MS and inquiring, only to find that exactly what they were wait listed for was indeed available. The implication was that it had bypassed he wait list and had they not called, would have missed it. Also, as debbiepump alluded to, the wait list evaporates at 30 days out and a new one is started. Non of the existing people on the old wait list are carried over, you must call or email again to get on that list. At 7 days out the wait list is abolished.

There are actually several ways to wait list. You can ask them to call or to auto-confirm. And you can wait list day by day or for the entire reservation at once. One of the problems with waiting on the entire reservation at one time is that they will pass you by unless they have all the days. Say you want 7 days and they only have 6 of those days, they will simply go to the next person and will not save them for the extra day. Day by day gives you a much larger chance of success.

I really expected to be on the waitlist for early Nov F & W but never happened. Call 7months out for OKW and got my ressie with no problem. :)

I have been on a waitlist for Disney's Vero Beach Resort for over a month. I am looking for 7-days, July 29th to August 5th.

When I booked my reservation I only got 3-days. For the remaining 4-days I had them set it up to look for individual days with an automatic confirmation that is mailed to me. :thumbsup2

In the past month I have received one additional day, which means I still need 3 more.

I have heard similar stories as related by Dean where people will call in to Member Services only to find that the days they were looking for are indeed available. You can bet I will start calling on a regular basis very soon. If I can not get Vero, my old reliable back-up is Disney's Old Key West. Good luck on your quest for WL & BC.

Wish you the best on getting your wait list.

Dean - quick question. We are waitlisted for 2 dates right now and recently MS asked us if we wanted to have our waitlist end at 31 days or 7 days out. Have you heard about this? Should we call on the 30th to make sure it's still active if we haven't passed the date or is it possible it's a new addition to the system?

I will also chime in and say that on Friday when I randomly called on our waitlist status I learned a few things.

1. Check them - one was not booked by the MS CM and I am very disappointed as now we are further down the list.

2. They do come through randomly as we were able to get 2 studios at BCV off our waitlist as did several friends, yet none of us were called or auto booked. Strange!

NO, I have not heard of them carrying the wait list over but to be honest, don't recall anyone who's posted they had a problem losing out due to the wait list changeover. Using the wait list requires a gamblers mentality and a little work to be consistently successful. As for errors, this is true with anything. I'd say that a full 50% of the II searches I've had the II reps put in have had errors. That's why I always check them online and now prefer to put them in myself for the ones where that is allowed. A call back to double check is usually preferable in this type situation.

I'd call at 9 am on day 30 if it were me.

Just to confirm...now prefer to put them in myself for the ones where that is allowed... this is referring to Interval International ressies not DVC, right?

Correct, II exchange requests through II directly.
