When do you feel would be the best time to go, the first week of November or the first week of December. This will be our first trip to Fort Wilderness. We will be traveling from Baltimore and camping in our new pop-up. I would like to go in November but my wife likes December. If you had to chose what would you pick and why? We are not doing the water parks so what things should we consider? Weather? crowds?

We really like the first week of December because the crowds are smaller, and the lights are beautiful! We like to visit all the other resorts and look at the light displays.

I agree, early December is a nice time.

The only thing I'm disappointed with is the new "Pre-Holiday" prices for campsites:mad:

December!!! No questions about it!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc The Settlement Depot area is so pretty all decorated in holiday lights........music fills the air.................the crowds are so low, it seems like you have the place all to yourself.........the individual campsites all decorate as well...........BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!::yes::

Thanks for the replies. Christmas lights would be nice but not a necessary. You say the crowds are light in December. What about early November? It seems that the first week of December is now considered the per-holidays season and the sites cost a little more. What about the differences in the weather, how hot/cold will it be? Im feel that December could get cool and that would mean more stuff to pack. More stuff to pack = more weight for the tow vehicle = very, very bad.

We've been both times, and as far as crowds and weather go, both times are pretty much the same. However, if you want a holiday vacation, go in December. During December, Disney has an afterhours celebration (you have to buy seperate tickets) called Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on selected nights, and it is definitely worth going to!!

Biggest problem with going in Dec. (at least to me) is getting back home and getting ready for the holidays after the vacation. Sounds like no big deal, but with children, family, and holiday preparations - I was exhausted after it was all over. It was just too much too close together. Just consider that when making your plans especially if Christmas is a BIG deal for your family like it is for ours.

One of our favorite times, however, is early Nov. (around Veteran's Day). We've been several times at this time of year. Crowds aren't bad, weather is nice, and you don't have the big holiday rush when you get home.

This year we are going at the end of Oct. into early Nov. We'll be going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! Happy Planning!::MickeyMo

We use to always go the first week of Dec, now we go in July because the kids are older and it is hard to take them out of school. One of the nice things about going the first week of December is the temps are not quit so HOT.

We love to go in Nov. for a couple of reasons, mainly because of the Food and Wine Festival. If you've never been you're missing something GOOD! Also, the crowds in Nov. are better than in Dec. BECAUSE of the holiday light displays...LOTS of people go to see the lights. One word of caution - the teachers in NY and NJ get one week off sometime in the middle of Nov., and believe me attendance certainly does increase.

Just my 2 cents :-) Whenever you go, you will have a blast!
