POFQ or POR is our vote we love each one plus you get queen size bed and extra room, plus regular dining. Boat to downtown disney which my dgd's loved. Sister resorts so two different pools, pls quiet ppol at POR Also both refurbished and beatuifully done. POFQ small size walk anywhere from any room in less then 5 minutes. River stroll to POR from POFQ less than 10 minutes.
:goodvibes

Your kids are a great age for POFQ, the resort is very compact and the pool is fine for little ones, while bigger kids may consider it a bit boring (the slide is pretty small.) Another option is CBR, but without a pirate room unless you don't mind a good bit of walking. The kids pool at CBR is awesome, but those pirate rooms are the furthest away (along with the most expensive!)

Have you priced out WL or AKL? Great lower-cost deluxes, you may find they are a good option as well.

I would rather pay for a room-only at a more deluxe resort than two rooms at a value, but that's me, I like hotel amenities better than extra space.
I agree! Plus, the OP has boys so I don't really think the Little Mermaid is quite up their alley. I would switch to a moderate and pocket the extra $$.

With just 2 young kids I don't get the 2 rooms at a value QUOTE

I priced 2 (connecting) rooms as an alternative to a suite, more out of curiousity than anything. My thinking was just to have separate areas/privacy. We have done connecting rooms for other travel, as well as on the upcoming cruise we are piggybacking onto this trip. It has worked out well for us.

Question on the POR/POFQ resorts; do they both have queen sized beds? Knew POFQ and CSR did, but POR & CBR both list doubles. To me the queen would be a big selling point over double! At this point, leaning toward POFQ.

Thank you to all that have weighed in, keep it coming!

Actually, they (my kids) were the ones wanting Little Mermaid! They also have requested a princess character meal this time! Can guarantee we weill have to stand in a forever long line, once again, to meet them as well. My older one will play it off that he is "too cool "when actually there, but inside will be eating it up! Don't get me wrong, they are ALL boy, and love Cars, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc … but I think it's cute that they still have such an innocence about them, and can still "like" princesses.

The princesses at MK have fastpass, may save you some time:)

Like a PP, I just cannot justify spending more on a room when I can spend that money on something else. I vote 1 room at Pop. You can walk over to AOA and check out the cool looking cars section.

I didn't suggest 2 rooms because I think you said you'll have 2 rooms on the cruise. 15 days would be way too much time without privacy!!!

That is really sweet :goodvibes.

I lost our AoA LM room when I changed our dates and had been trying every couple of days to check availability...until I heard it was excluded from FD. Now, I'm thinking of switching from POP to POFQ since we would have upgraded our QS to reg. dining anyway. It will cost us a couple hundred more, but I think it's worth it. We usually stay at a mod and staying at POP was a way to be able to just walk over to AoA and check it out. But like a pp said, it will be there for a long time and I find I can wait. I voted POR/FQ and as it happens, FQ is our absolute favorite mod! I don't think you'll be disappointed there! Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for all of the votes! Keep them coming! At this point I think we are leaning toward POFQ.

I'd definately go with Port Orleans either Riverside or FQ. I don't think you can lose this way! Enjoy it! Plan another trip for A of A.

the only mod w/out queen beds at the time of your trip is CBR :) POR will be finished upgrading by then
