Hi- I'd love some help for those of you who've been to the resorts and know about the availability in general. I'd prefer not to switch resorts this trip, so I'll be looking for 6 straight nights.

We are planning a trip the week of the 20th of September (Sun-Sat ideally, we are somewhat flexible- but must be there over the 22nd). We- is 2 adults, and 2 five year olds. We expect to close in the next week or so on our SSR contract, meaning I likely won't book until end of the month, possibly even beginning of May. Which isn't as soon as I'd like, LOL! I also should note that this is our first trip EVER to FL in the late summer/fall, we have made on spring trip, and all the rest are winter. I expect we will continue the patter of mostly going in the winter, but the kids were begging to do the halloween party, so we decided to try a time that would work for us. I think it would be a good time to do some pool hopping - because this will be our first trip to disney it will actually be HOT (and we'll understand why they have all these water features, LOL!)

All that being said, it's going to be a pretty significant trip, we'll be renewing our vows (at discovery cove, with disney as our party place before/after)! I am trying to decide where we'll stay (and having a list of what my back up places will be if the first one or two are booked). It is quite possible where we stay we will have pictures- I haven't figured out the exact timing, and I could skip the pictures before- but how nice the resort would look for pictures is partial consideration.

My first thought was AKV- I've never been there, but it looks so beautiful, and I think the kids would love the new pool area. My dress is red, and I thought it would look nice with that decor, but I've never actually been so I don't know. My second thought was OKW- not for pics- but because it's so tropical, and we're doing such a tropical experience it fits, and I think my kids would like the sandcastle pool. And the rooms are big, a plus. Then I started thinking BWV would be another good option- this one for pictures- but I honestly think they'd be scared of the clown pool, so I'm not sure about that one! Finally, we were thinking SSR as another possiblity, it is a beautiful and light location, and would likely look pretty in a few photos before the events, and owning there it would be meaningful. DH isn't as big a fan of BC, but it would be a decent fit for our trip I think... he's unsure about BLT, and we really don't want to do VWL that time of year- we are from the north and cabins and this is a more tropical experience, so it just doesn't fit for this trip (although it is beautiful!). So I guess that just leaves BLT as our other option- and I think the points are really high, though, and I would suspect that would be the first thing sold out (well, besides BC?)

Any thoughts on resorts- and what their availability might be for mid/late september??

Thank you!

I can't really help you but I believe you will simply be limited to what is available. Remember of course that you can waitlist. We just bought and tried for third week in August and only thing available was a 2 bedroom at SSR and OKW. Now Septemeber should be better availability since all the schools are in session then. Don't want to dampen your spirits as I was really dissappointed that all we had for a choice was SSR (where we have already been) and OKW which looks too big without a car.

Now if you do have some choices pixiedust:

I think BWV and BCV have a more Regal look for Vow Renewals. They are very beach themes. The BCV have a beautiful common rooms at the villas. Why not look at the pictures on allears.net to see some of the "common rooms". Not the bedrooms, but the community hall stuff at these resorts.

SSR is very peaceful and serene. BLT will look hard and untropical to me. We own there, but this is not a beachy feel at all. As my guide has said it more Mickey meets the Jetsons. If you like contemporary theme, then yes, if not I would not choose to do any pictures here.

VWL is so romantic and I was surprised I liked it. We are beachy and definitely not woodsy, but found VWL so peaceful. You could have pictures out on the beach too.

AKV pool area is just beautiful. We haven't see the Kidani pictures yet, but the pool over at Jambo is really, really pretty. Lot of areas of tropical looking trees. But if you don't like dark you may not like it here!

Good luck! I would go with what is available and be happy. You own DVC, are at Disney with your kids and most importantly are renewing your wedding vows!! How wonderful!

We saw a wedding at Boardwalk two years ago and it looked like a great setting. Not sure what will be available.

Thanks for sharing- maybe I am being unrealistic, having not done this before, and should just take whatever we can get this far out! Good point!

We will have a car, so would be happy with OKW or SSR for sure... and I wondered if that would be all that was available, I have no idea! And I know we'll be happy anywhere... but I started thinking about if other resorts were available, not knowing what september is like in terms of popularity, and imagined myself on the phone and I have no idea what would be best for our trip? My kids are requesting SSR, funny enough!

Yes, it is pretty amazing! Thank you:) We were planning to do it in January, but then when we started planning a fall trip, and we thought doing it in september would work best because it would be warmer than january for all that swimming!

Thank you- any other thoughts are appreciated!

Oh my goodness- I just checked my email after posting and we just closed!! She said our paperwork would be sent to DVC this afternoon and we can book in 7-10 days!!!

I'm so excited!!!

CONGRATULTIONS!!! I really think you will have a lot to choose from when you are able to book. I would probably try AKV if I were you. It is the 3rd lartest on site DVC resort, and September is a slower time and easier to get than some other times of the year.

Thank you!! What a great day!! Looks like I might be able to book next week!!

I will try for AKV- if it's booked, I'll see what else is open, I would be very happy with SSR or OKW if they are available!

Here's some Pixie Dust for you pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I would pick Beach Club if available. If you want to do some swimming then SAB is the way to go!! Good luck and congratulations!!! Welcome Home!!

Congratulations! Can't help you really,...VWL would be my first choice, but AKV would be second.

Thank you all! I'll be posting next week hopefully (or early the following week) with what we were able to book!

Ok, I was happy before, but now it's just- REAL! We OWN 170 SSR points. OWN IT! Holy Cow!! What an incredible feeling!! I still can't believe I'll be able to take my kids to disney every year now! And heck, this year we're making it twice!!! Unreal!!! :cool1::banana::banana::cool1:
