We leave for WDW in 49 days!!!:yay: But Im kinda stressing over what kind of bag to bring? I have a purse with me everyday but Im not in the mood to hold that all day. I have a small canvas messenger but my concern with that is If It gets wet then all my stuff ( camera, wallet, phone, etc ) is ruined. Back pack? But then it has to be waterproof as well right? Also I will be taking my 2 kids ( 5 and 3 ) so we will have a double stroller were renting. Its the city mini and although they say it hold a decent amount under I cant tell. Any suggestions on what kinda "purse" to bring?:confused3

I bought a long rectangle beach bag that zipped. Glad I did because though I had it on my lap or on the seat of a ride it still got dirty. Wanted something lightweight with compartment for cell phone. It had an inside pocket.

My strategy is to wear cargo type shorts or something with pockets to carry my phone/lip balm/etc, then use a vera zip id case with a lanyard for money/KTTW card/cc/id and that works well for me. No bag lines and I travel light.

With a 5 year old and a 3 year old my advice would be a backpack. You will have both hands free (when necessary) and you or your spouse will be able to easily access the bag, if necessary. It will also distribute the weight on your back evenly and you can pass the bag to your spouse. Because of the ages of the kids, it will be nice to have an extra pair of shorts or under garments in case of an emergency stored in the backpack. We have the City Mini double and it does hold a decent amount under; however, every time you board the bus you will have to fold that baby up. The less you have under the better. We use the under carriage for simple things like autograph books, extra water bottles, ponchos - all items that we can throw into the bag when needed. For you camera, wallet, any other necessities that will be in your bag use a large, lined cosmetic bag this will help protect any items.

I always carry a backpack. Last year I found one with only 3 zippers so it did not hold me up (or anyone else up) during the bag check. I put only essentials in it and my hubs and I take turns carrying it. I am always able to safely and comfortably take it on the rides with me.

I spray my fabric bags with "camp out" is a water repellant you can get at walmart. I also keep things like my wallet and camera/phone in a ziplock baggie.

Camp Out? Wow, never heard of it. Thanks! I would probably feel naked If I didn't carry something on me. I have one pair of cargo's Im bringing with me but I don't think I'd be comfortable putting my ID, $, etc in the pockets. Plus ill need to bring a few diapers, wipes, kid stuff. Oh joy! haha. Thanks for the suggestions!

My husband and I don't like the backpacks. They are hot in summer weather. I used to use a messenger bag that my husband would not be embarrassed wearing occasionally.
Now that I have a nicer, larger camera I use a small camera bag that will convert from a messenger cross body type, to fix it around my waist if I need to.

I am going to try some of that water proof spray on it.

I always have ziplock bags that will fit my phone and camera, so if it rains they are protected.

Ideally I don't use a bag.

I have a Vera Bradley backpack and carry a large ziploc in it for Splash etc.

I swear by my CamelBak. I never have to stop for water, or worry about where my water bottle is, or which one it is when there are 15 of them sitting in a row. It's not really "ultralight", especially first thing in the morning, but it's not terribly heavy, either. I fill it up with ice from the hotel ice machine, then hit up the first water fountain I see and fill it the rest of the way, and that usually lasts most of the day. If I run out of ice, I just get more from one of the drink stands, since they pass out free ice water anyway.

I use a backpack to keep extra clothes, sunscreen maybe towel in case we get wet and leave it under the stroller. Then I carry the vera bradley little hipster bag. Its just big enough to hold the essentials like money/credit cards, a few wipes just in case, a travel size sunscreen and autograph book. It has a wallet built in that zips in the front that i utilized. It is a nice light bag. It is not waterproof but you always bring a couple ziplock bags to put a camera in when going on a ride that you might get wet, or I even think the whole bag would fit into a freezer size bag.

I prefer not to use backpacks. To me they get hot. I prefer a messenger bag. I bought the one below for our last trip to Disney World and was very happy with it. It is a good size and can hold a lot or a little and has tons of pockets. They also have a smaller version which I have my eye on now that DD is older and I don't carry as much stuff. When we still used a stroller I would bring a medium cloth tote type bag to hold extra clothes, blanket, etc and keep that underneath the stroller. Basically my emergency stuff that I didn't plan on using except if needed. That way I wasn't actually lugging around a lot of stuff. The extra bag though was nice to be able to keep everything under the stroller together so it was easy to grab when time to fold the stroller up.

I like the idea of the messenger bag. KRR is the wettest ride there, but they have dry storage areas for your bags and shoes. I would go with the waterproofing method.

I am so going to do this -- my DD doesn't need me to carry her stuff anymore :cool1:

I like the Vera Bradley Hipster bags. Because they are so light to begin with. Then I only carry my valuables in that. I leave chapstick etc... in the bag under the stroller. If going on a water ride..... keep a Ziploc in the bag to place phone and camera in when on the ride!
Being light weight is key!
Sometimes I also wear cargos to hold my items.... or the best is making my husband hold everything :)

Well, I have a tote from Vera and I can carry tons of stuff in it:) It has a few pockets inside where I keep extra snacks, gum, extra glasses, pens, tissues, and it has a great inside, where I keep my wallet, poncho and camera. I have always carried a bag. ;) I was a youth group leader for many years and I just got used to carrying everything but, the kitchen sink:) My shoulder has a permanent crease from my bags:rotfl:

Purchased a clear plastic backpack from Walmart. On sale for $9. Sailed through bag check. I could spin it around and see what I was looking for. So much to distracted you at the World so it was nice to look at it and know I had returned the item I just used to the bag and not left it on a bench somewhere. It was sturdy and you can imagine how easy it was to clean. Have a wonderful trip!:wave2:

I love my Baggallini that I got last year right before our Sept trip. Mine is in a bright green color, and like the one below.

I got mine for $24.99 at Ross (which is like Marshalls). It rained on our trip and nothing inside ever got wet, but - for phones etc I'd still seal it up in a baggie or something if you are going on a wet ride or there are downpours.

Edited to add: I had 3 kids with me, so I was carrying wipes, diapers, some snacks and an extra set of clothes for my toddler - plus camera and phone and still had plenty of room in there!

I don't have my park bag yet but I can tell you one thing: it's going to be gender neutral! I want to make my husband take a turn carrying it!

I always thought the same thing, but went over to Universal one trip. For some of their rides you are required to put any bag (even small crossbody ones) into lockers. I hated dealing with those lockers, so came home and bought a week's worth of cargo shorts and cargo capris. The next trip that was all I took. I absolutely loved being bag free. It was so freeing having nothing in my hands or hanging off me and we loved just walking straight into the parks, using the bagless lines. No way would I ever go back to carrying a bag. I usually have my small camera in one lower pocket, my cell phone with a lip balm in the other, and a Vera Bradly zip ID that holds my ID, cc, park ticket, and a little cash in another. That's all I carry into the parks. Feb 2010 we took our then 3 y/o grandson down there with us and still went bag free every day. It wasn't a problem and we never needed anything we didn't have.

I use the Patagonia Atom (http://www.zappos.com/patagonia-atom) and it's worked very well.

It's a single strap so I never have to take it off, just swing it around to the front on rides or to grab stuff. It's got a small pocket I put my wallet and cell phone in (so I don't have to worry about them falling out when I dig in the main pocket) and although it's quite a bit smaller than a normal backpack the main pocket is large enough for hat, gloves, socks, camera, battery pack, bandages, sunscreen, rain parkas, etc that I might need in a park. The clips on the outside are perfect to carry a jacket or sweatshirt for cooler evenings. It's also got a nice padded strap.
