What tricks have you tried to jump start yourself? I do Atkins for the most part and have done very well. I have 12 pounds to go to reach my goal and it is just so slow now.

Thanks for any ideas you may have. I really wanted to be at goal before my April 6 Disney trip.

Hi.....
I just posted about this very situation.
Ill try and sum it up quickly, what worked for me.
September till January, lost 35 pounds doing low carb.
Fast forward to March, not another pounds! I was plateaued out! I was so frustrated and depressed but someone said eat some carbs for a few days and then get back on plan. I think I abruptly tricked my metabolism. I also changed my exercise routine ( went from curves to jogging) and the best advice I had gotten from all this was stop snacking so much( even though my snacks were Atkins aprroved, atkins peanut butter cups, atkins ice cream etc.)

I have to say since back on plan (this past Monday) I have lost about 8 pounds.
I think your body gets too used to a way of eating and thats when yous top losing. Mix it up a little. It was hard for me to except that I may have to gain a few pounds in order to loss more overall but, It worked.

Renee has offered some excellent advice.

You may want to look at the fat / protein / carb ratios of your daily food. You can put all your food into Fitday.com for a particular day and it will calculate what percentage of your calories come from fat, from protein and from carbs.

I eat low-carb and I tend to lose best when I'm eating 70% of my calories from fat, 20% of calories from protein and 10% from carbs. Each person is different, though. I do tend to see many people doing low-carb who are not eating enough fat and that can stall your weight loss. Try adding in some good fats and see if that helps.

Another thing that can stall people is too much cheese and/or too many nuts. If you're eating more than 2-3 oz of cheese or nuts a day, try cutting back and see if that helps.

I also know that diet sodas and/or too many artificial sweeteners can stall people, so if you're relying heavily on these things you may want to cut back.

I hope one of these ideas works for you! Those plateaus can drive anyone crazy!

Best wishes for a happy visit with the scale soon! :sunny:

I am stalled too, these sound like some rational ideas. I have 7-8 pounds to go to goal, and these are definately the hardest!

Thanks for posting! Good luck to you!!:wave2:

Thanks for all the great advice. I have found I am eating everyday at work low carb peanut butter and I am more than likely eating too much. I just keep a spoon by it and eat it without thinking about it.

I drink Crystal Light at least three times a week instead of water.

I am going to start with looking at these two things.

Thanks!

Kathy

Hi Doreen,
Thanks so much for recommending te Fitday.com site. It really gives me a much better idea of what I am doing! I was glad to see I was doing a good job estimating calories, but I was way off on my fat intake-wow! I am planning to log in nightly to get a better handle on values and try to change my percentages a bit. Thank you!

I increase my exercise and cut back on the salad dressing! It works for me.
