The packaging tells me nothing. Do I soak them? Cook them without soaking?

I found them in the produce section of the grocery store - not refrigerated or anything, if that helps.

Thanks mucho!

I just bought a can of Blackeyed Peas. So, I wouldn't be able to tell ya. Sorry...

Isn't the purpose of soaking dried peas to rehydrate? if so, i would think you could just skip that step and go ahead and cook them.

If you soak them overnight and then rinse them before cooking, they/you will be less "gassy" ;)

You do soak them. That is what I have always done. You soak them in water for a couple of hours and them cook them. Enjoy!!

I always wash the peas first then pick through to get the bad ones out. I then soak them for a few hours. In a large pot, I add the peas (drained from the water they soaked in), chopped onion, some minched garlic, salt & pepper, a ham bone (or chunks of ham). I add just enough water to the pot to cover and bring to a boil. Then I turn down the heat to simmer and cook until tender.

The finished product is a thin bean consistency, if your mixture is thick just add small amounts of water until you have the consistency you want. I make some rice and we eat the beans over rice (Hoppin John) with buttermilk cornbread on the side. I also serve fresh collards.

Do they say rehydrated on the package? or is it a typo and the package says dehydrated?
If they are rehydrated, then no need to soak
