Ok,

Who knows anything about washing machines?

I've fiddled about all weekend so far, but no lasting luck!

The #### thing wont spin on rinse!

I've stripped it all down, cleaned out the sludge and put it all back.

I even bought a pair of brushes for the motor - but no joy.

Any ideas? - I guess it's a pressure vessel blockage, but I can't find the thing!

Have you tried switching on at the plug-------LOL--LOL

jj...........:D :D

Ah!

JJ.....Your'e a star! - LOL

......and I've posted under DW's logon!

What a weekend!

Bonzo - hope you've got it fixed.

My washing machine sadly departed life on this earth couple of months back. Our friend, the washing machine man, tried to fix it, but it refused to be fixed. Still, it had had a jolly good life, well loved and cared for;)

So DH duly escorted me to the nice new washing machine shop where he promptly went pale and started to sweat rather profusely when he saw the prices (mind, he was looking at the weird Dyson at £1100:eek:).

How sad is it, but I really love my new machine, even if it takes over two hours to do a blasted wash each time (new style economies, for the water, you see:confused: ).

Sorry to hear about your machine Alison and Shaun - have you had it a while? Is it not covered under the g/tee or insurance?

Which machine did you get Annie :) ?

I am looking at new washing machines and tumble dryers for when we move and dont really want one that takes a couple of hours to do a wash?

We bought a new Vacuum Cleaner yesterday and went for the all singing, all dancing Dyson. It has a special filter thingy that is supposed to be helpful to Asthmatics? I suffer with Asthma and my mum has Emphysemia so hopefully this will really improve things for us both in the new house :)

Alas,

The Washing Machine remains firmly broken after over 5 years of faithful service.

I can now strip the whole thing in 5 mins flat! - can't believe I'm still fiddling with it on my birthday of all days! - LOL

I don't want to get a new one - I want that Fuji Finepix in Jessop's sale!

I'll keep you posted.

Sorry about the demise of said machine, but the day can't be all bad if it's your birthday :)

Janice - on recommendation from our washing machine man, we got a Zanussi Turbo Dry 1200 washer/dryer (DH was trying to get me to buy just a washer as "we don't often use the dryer", but when I pointed out, just say, that he has two cricket games on consecutive days and the weather ain't good enough for flapping around on the line, how will he get his little whites dry . . . point taken so the washer/dryer it was. The one that died was an Ariston washer/dryer, nearly 9 years old, so I guess in today's throw away society it didn't do too bad.

I really am very pleased with the new one - although it has the capacity to spin at 1200 whatevers per minute, you also have the choice of 450, 550, 650, 750 for those things that don't need the life wringing out of them (or need to much ironing  yuuuuuk. Although the wash takes a heck of a lot longer than the old machine, the quality at the end is superb.

[Perhaps I should look for a job doing PR for Zanussi when I'm redundant:p ]:)

Well,

It looks as though the thing is working again!

One of the new brushes had got stuck! - all freed up and working again - Phew!

That's enough anxiety on my birthday thanks! - off to rest.

Sound a little suspicious to me----LOL--- are you sure it wasn't the plug---LOL

jj.......:D

Glad yer got the women's technical thingy workin Bonzo and sorry I missed yer birthday - happy one after anyway!

I was VERY impressed that he sorted it out! (It doesn't happen often!)

I usually have to get the men in!

is that 2 hours for a wash and a dry? or 2 hours just to wash?

We have a Bosch Maxx washing machine - chosen because it has the largest capacity by far - except for the american style one's and Phil pointed out we wouldn't be able to get into the utility room if we installed one of those!
It does a quick wash in about 20 minutes - which is good enough for most everyday washing, and I think a standard wash takes about an hour - we very rarely do a standard one.

the dryer is a separate machine, and I have to confess that we use it for every load - I can't stand wet washing draped around the house - and I haven' t the patience to hang it on the line, so it all get's shoved into the dryer - that can take over an hour - so 2 hours for wash and dry sounds about right - but 2 hours just to wash sounds a little long.
