Help w/ Nintendogs, please!!!

YES! and no.... The Dog will only respond to her voice (name, tricks, ect.) others players however can take it for a walk or play fetch with it...but not really anythign with the voice.

We have had no issues with any of us taking care off dd's dog. All 4 of us have had turns training it and it responds the same to our voice commands as it does to hers.

Ok. My DS has had a DS for ages and I never touched it until yesterday when I was helping him with his dalmatian. He just bought Nintendogs with some Christmas money. Well... now I am hooked and I'm getting fustrated because when I try to enter the obedience contest, it says you can only enter 3 contests in one day and it has been more than 24 hours and it is still not letting me enter. Keep in mind I have tuaght the little guy to sit and lie down and roll over. I'm still working on stay and shake, but I think we have a shot at winning the contest and that means more money for more supplies, etc.. Hoping that some other unsuspecting Mom has gotten caught up with the dogs and can help me out!!!

I can't believe it has come to posting for help, but what's a Mom to do.

TIA!!! I have to get his figured out because I need to plot out our ADR's which I just realized I can start booking in about 2 weeks. Amazing how the holidays have taken a chunk of planning time. Have to get back on course.

everytime I see your screenname, I think "I didn't post this and how did my avatar change?" Although, this one could have come from me! My DD got the Nintendogs along with her DS for Christmas and I am ashamed to say I got so hooked on her game, that I went out and bought my own Nintendogs game, so I can give the dog my voice commands, etc.

For the second round in obedience, you need to know shake, so I highly suggest you teach him that first and make sure he knows it well. They need to hold lie down, and sit for longer, and also he needs to know spin! I scored 1st place in the 1st round, 3rd place in the 2nd!

Agility Trails are fun too! :thumbsup2

Here's a Nintendog tip....

In order to get more "trainer points" and therefore more toys and dogs,---

go into "brush dog mode."
Put the brush on the dog--right on it's side.
Leave the DS on overnight (I suggest keeping it plugged in so the battery doesn't die at 2:00 am)

For every minute you spend brushing your dog, you get more trainer points. So if you leave it being "brushed" all night, you get lots of points. :) The brush doesn't have to be moving the whole time!! :)

We found this site to be VERY VERY helpful in cracking the Nintendog code:

As far as the dog forgetting it's name, we've found that you have to keep saying it to the dog so he doesn't forget. My dd's dog is "Bob". He kept forgetting his name, and the game prompted us to talk to him frequently. We started saying things like "Good Bob" "Are you hungry Bob" "Do you want to go for a walk Bob" If he hears it frequently, he'll remember it and you won't have to keep retraining him.
