I have listed an item that I initially had a starting and Buy It Now Price. I just got a ?? asking if I would be interested in a Buy It Now and if so what is my price. Is this something that I can do or just let them know what the Buy It now price was???

From this, I am assuming your item has bids at this time. To sell it to this person, you would answer their question with the buy it now price that you would accept, and then if you hear back from them that they want it for that price, you can cancel the other person's bids, end that listing, and relist the item to a buy it now price. The one downside to this is if someone else snaps up the buy it now before that person gets to it.

ETA: It is legitimate to end your listing early. Then to relist as the buy it now, eBay still gets their money. But by cancelling another bidder's bid, you do risk alienating them from your future listings. Also, if you do this, be very aware that you could possibly get more by leaving the listing as it is. Sometimes a buyer will ask for a buy it now to get a desirable item at a lower price then it may end up selling for.

I'd just tell them it's too late and you hope they bid and are successful in getting the item. This is the only fair thing to do in my opinion.

I would tell hin he BIN price. If he agrees, I would relist it in a private auction first before cancelling the current auction. You want to make sure this guy is serious. Cancel your existing auction first & the guy never buys from you, you are out both auctions. As always, check the person's feedback rating FIRST. You may be able to tell if this guy is a flake or not.

If you do cancel your current auction, you MUST cancel all bids before canceling the auction. If even one bidder is left when you cancel the auction, that person has essentially WON you auction at his bid price.

Thought I would chime in....You can also tell them to place a bid to become the high bidder. Once he is the high bidder you can end auction and sell to current high bidder. You do this by selecting the option to end listing/cancel bids and there is an option to sell to the high bidder. Then he can just send you the pre determined amount.

With that said. Since there is already a bid you could ride it out and see how much it goes for. There is a chance it may go for more than the buy it now originally was! Do your research, if the item sells for x amount and buyer is willing to pay that amount I don't see what it would hurt to go ahead and sell it now for that
