Help us trim our costs!

Sign up for airfarewatchdog.com. It will sent you alerts when then prices drop for certain airports that you specify. You could also sign up for Southwest BING! It is generally cheapest to buy airfare tickets starting Tuesday afternoons thru Wednesdays. It is also cheaper to fly on Tue, Wed to Saturdays. Price tickets one-way and for one person at a time, in addition to round trip pricing. Sometimes it is best to fly one airline there and a different one back. Consider looking to alternate airports if that is an option.

We personally like to stay off site and have saved a lot of money that way. We like the extra room and full kitchen. You also have to take into consideration that some of that savings for us is spent in daily parking fees vs. getting to use Disney transportation, so be sure to factor that in.

Consider a AAA or Costco membership for good travel savings on tickets and car rentals.

My husband and I both have Chase Disney Visas and accumulate quite a few Disney Dollars between trips.

But Disney Gift cards at Target using your RedCard and save 5%- I think you can save an addl 5% if you get a certain number of prescriptions filled at their pharmacy also.

I honestly would consider staying at Disney all week and renting a car. I also would expect some type of room only code, your lodging goes to around 1K for a moderate and $700-800 for a value. That saves 1K right there, the rental car cost would offset the shuttle. You can still drive to Universal.

We went to Disney in April for a convention, the travel consolidators had Disney discount prices plus and additional 15% off. We paid $129 a night for Caribbean Beach. This October, we have POFQ booked for $122+tax on Cheaptickets for the week, plus 6 1/2% cash back through a rebate site.

I would look at Undercover Tourist/Orbitz or elsewhere for ticket discounts. You can save another $100 there just on Disney. Add more savings for Universal.

Keep checking flights weekly.

These will get the cost back to 5K quickly.

Stay off site at the Hilton Parc Soleil; it's about 10-15 minutes to both Disney and Universal. You'll cut your costs by more than half and the room will be 100% better ..

I just bought 3 Disney adults 5-day (actually pay for 3 get 2 free) tickets (not hoppers) for $840.27 from Orbitz. I went through Ebates and got $84.03 cash back.

I did the same with the room - staying at AoA and POR split stay. Went through Ebates, booked with Travelocity and got $95.23 cash back. POR only had 5% off discount but Travelocity had a deal for 13% off :thumbsup2

When we did Universal we rented a car - it was actually cheaper than a shuttle or taxi. Costco has Wed-Sat for $149.
