Help us pick Character dining!

I've been poking around on here for a few days and I'm still confused.
We're taking our first trip to Disney in April, and I still haven't reserved our dining. Bad I know.
We're wanting to do two character meals if possible. We're thinking of Cinderellas royal table, our DD is 7 1/2 so I think she'll love this.

I don't know what to do that our son will enjoy. He's almost 9. Any suggestions?

Being that you are gong in April, I would not have high hopes of snagging Cinderella's Royal Table. Those ADR's are usually made 180 days out. That doesn't mean don't try, just don't get your hopes up too high. If that fails, try the princess breakfast or lunch in Norway at Epcot.

For boys--what characters does he like? Mickey? Tigger? Donald Duck?
It will probably be hard getting a Chef Mickey's at this point as well but you can try (it is Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto, I believe). The restaurant at the Animal Kingdom features Donald but I'm not sure who else is there. The breakfast/lunch/dinner at the Crystal Palace (our favorite--as well as our boys when they traveled with us) is Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. There is also Cape May Cafe which features Minnie, Goofy & Donald in swim attire.

Tusker House bfast at animal Kingdom- It has all your "basic" characters (mickey and donald and the crew) and is not too pricey and is lots of fun and the food is GREAT.
Be sure to snag an ADR before park opening- u can arrive early adn then still be at the front of lines when you're done eating.
It's our fav!

I say get on the phone ASAP. If the castle isn't available try Akershus in Epcot and 1900 Park Fare for dinner. They may be booked also but it's worth a try.

Also Chef Mickey's, Tusker House, Ohana's are all good!

On our trip in Sept, we (wife,ds4,ds2) ate at cape may, o'hana, and 1900 park fare. We liked cape may the most. The food was great and we got multiple visits from the characters. I think the restaurant is not as popular as chef mickeys, so it maybe possible to get ressies this late. We never like to use time in the park to eat breakfast.

You could also try the breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. It has Alice from Alice in Wonderland, The Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins and Tigger *possibly one more character* not sure. This is favorite of all of my kids. 1 boy and 2 girls!!!

For boys, I'd suggest garden grill w/ Chip, Dale, Mickey, etc... Tusker House for Bfast, or Chef Mickeys. And unless you're lucky and can get into CRT, I'd highly suggest a Princess meal in Norway. IMO, the princess interaction is MUCH better!!!

I completely agree the princess interaction is much better at Norway! But that is just IMO. Good luck and have a great vacation!

I just have to say I'm not one to plan things late but a few times DH and I thought it would be fun to do a last minute lunch or dinner at CP. We've walked up to the window and got a table because people canceled or because there was only 2 of us it wasn't an issue. And this is after the reservation line told us the day was totally full. We've also walked up to CRT, Sci-fi, and 50's PTC without a problem. We might have an hour wait, but it's not hard to burn off an hour at Disney.

I'm not saying it's a good idea to leave things last minute if you really, really want to dine there and make it part of your plans for the day. But it's worth the time to walk up and check. You never know who might cancel or just not show up. Chef Mickey's was so much fun and the food was so good I would go there anytime! Same for GG which was great for lunch then we had a light dinner.

CRT, and if you can't get that then princess dining at Norway. Way better character interaction. I think we met 5 or 6 princesses the day we were there.

For your son, Chef Mickey's if you can get it, and if not, then O'hana's breakfast is lots of fun.

Those are my top 4 character dining experiences. Love them all! Good luck!

Oh, I should add that your son would probably enjoy Sci Fi at DHS. Way fun!!

We were there in Sept. and did Crystal Palace, 1900 ParkFare (Cinderella dinner), Chef Mickey's, and Akershus.

Our DD4 preferred 1900 ParkFare to Akershus. The stepsisters were fantastic and she was asked to dance by the prince. At Akershus, the princesses were so rushed they kept calling our DS (7m) a princess. He was wearing a navy blue shortset with Mickey on it.

The character interaction at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's were both great. Chef Mickey's would win in my DDs opinion though because it had Minnie Mouse. Eeeyore spent a tON of time at our table with DS though, so that was also a highlight. A small stuffed eeyore we picked up right after has been his Fave ever since.
