DH and I are looking to move from our apartment to a home. I was wondering if anyone knows of any other websites other then realtor. com to house hunt. We have looked at everything on that site and am hoping to find another one.

We want a house in the Burlington or Camden County New Jersey area and can't spend more then $100,000. It is really becoming a pain to find something other then condos or really run down houses. All the houses we do like are in Adult Communities. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

zillow.com, I think it is similar to realtor.com. We also looked at specific realtor sites, like prudentialpreferred.com or howardhanna.com

Burlington County is HUGE...adding Camden to it is a very broad area encompassing a multitude of price ranges. You may want to consider narrowing your search area.

Have you considered drawing a circle around your point of employment? This is how my DH and I chose our search field 14 years ago. He works in the Princeton area, so we drew a circle 25 miles in diameter around his office, and focused our efforts in that circle. We were able to eliminate certain areas because of price, and concentrated efforts in the area we could afford (you can find median home price data for most towns on the internet).

Then, put a realtor to work for you.

I used to live in that area and recommend PatMurphy.com -- they have specialized in the foreclosures long before it became a household word across America.

If you find anything interesting, let me know by PM as I do know both realtors, there...

I like using cyberhomes.com

You can set your search limits based on bedrooms, bathroom, price, even size of the lot. The thing I like most about it, is it uses google to show an overhead view of the house, and surrounding houses, and shows the value of each house. Like green prices refer to the price value, and blue prices refer to houses that are currently on the market.

That's my old house that I grew up in. It was sold in 2003, but if it was sold more recently it'll show it, and how much it sold for. Very very helpful site in comparing to other homes nearby. And since it's not run by a realtor company, it shows all. It'll also provide you with a link to the realtor's site for more info.

You can search by neighborhoods, city, zip codes... very very easy to figure out.

I'm actually in the process of looking myself and I know how frustrating it can be to find a home you want in your price range!

If you can get in touch with a realtor, they can set you up with a site called Trend. It seems to have all of the up to date information on all the houses on the market. The real estate agent can even set you up with a subscription so that it will send you an email every day with any new listings that fit your criteria.

Also, I work at Burlington County College, I know some areas that have decent homes for lower prices are Browns Mills, Pemberton, and Willingboro.

don't first time home buyers get $8000 back from the feds? if so, congrats and good luck on your search! i live in montco, and used everyhome.com not sure if it covers nj, though.

Have your agent set you up with a listingbook account.

It will send you updates by email every morning and you can go and look at all the listings. It will tell you when there are new ones and when there have been price changes.

Good luck, we too are looking for our first house and its very stressful

With that price range, it will be difficult to find anything that isn't a smallish condo-- a stand alone house will be difficult to find. It is possible you can find a twin on the Pennsauken/Camden border for that price-- but it may not be the "nicest" area.

I bought a condo in Marlton back in 1991 for 60,000. The same condo goes for about 125,000 or 130,000 now.

HI

I live in that area and it isn't easy to find a home in that range. If you want a single family home in that area, you might find something in Pennsauken, Merchantville, etc. But most of the areas are at least 200K.

Hi! We're in the process of looking for homes as well. We're looking primarily in Gloucester County and maybe Camden County.

My fav website has been remax. I love their search feature and the way you can move the map around to search for homes. I just like the way it's set up and also how it can save your searches and send you updates via your e-mail about your search.

It's going to be very difficult to find a home under $100,000 that's not run down or a condo. Even these really rundown tiny townhomes in a bad area in Sicklerville that used to be under $100,000 are no longer under that amount! I have seen or what appear to be decent single family homes starting at $135,000 which I thought was great.

Another thing to keep in mind is that taxes in Camden County are usually higher because of how many apartments and rentals there are in Camden County. The homes then have to make up the taxes and they are usually about $1000-$2000 more from what we've been seeing.

Good luck! We just got our pre-approval and are finally going to check out some homes in person on Friday!

I second the ReMax site. ...but I have to agree with the others that your choices will be very limited in the under 100K range. I think the only options will be condo's or row homes, and probably not in very good neighborhoods. I am not familiar Burlco, but in Camden county your only option for single family homes in that price range will probably be Camden, and I am relatively sure you don't want to live in Camden.

You might find something in Burlington City, Camden, Pennsauken or Winslow Township with that price range. It is fairly possible you can find a smallish twin in Mt. Holly as well, but it would be in a particulary "iffy" neighborhood--don't let the realtor claim of old fashioned charm fool you.

I am pretty certain you do not want to live in Camden. The other cities can get quite iffy. For example, Winslow Twp is in a rural type area but it does have a very urban presence with gangs and such like that.

Pennsauken is right next to Camden...it could be possible in Pennsauken. There are very nice areas of Pennsauken and there are ones that are not. If it means anything to you, Pennsauken has a pretty decent and rigourous school system that is admired by other districts. I have heard nothing but praise about Pennsauken elementary schools. I knew someone that lived in Pennsauken and it was a lovely old Italian neighborhood on a grassy street with lots of parking.. so it can be done.

There are a few condos you could buy in Cherry Hill. There is an older building near me (think 1960's style) that sells condos in that price range. You would be in the Cherry Hill school system if that means anything to you. In fact, a lot of families live there so the kids can go to that district schools. These condos would be Mark 70 or Playa del Sol. -- one is a high rise and one isn't.

With that price range, it will be a challenge to find a single home.

Just in my opinion, but I would stay out of Willingboro and Burlington City. I currently live in Edgewater Park which is a town over from Willingboro and a town over from Burlington City. To me they are not the best places to live. No flames please. You might want to look at Delanco. Not bad but not the greatest. There are some very nice streets. It is funny that you are moving out of Medford.........that is where our house hunt is right now!

Also check out Bordentown, not sure the house prices but I would think that you would be able to find a small home that is affordable. And Columbus.

Good Luck!

I don't live in that area of NJ but when we bought our house we used NJMLS and searched by town with our price range.

Good luck!

Lara
