O.K., So this is the proplem:laughing: (I guess not a problem per say in the grand scheme of things!) More like, my decision making skills some times are not the greatest and Dh is not sure what to do either. :confused3 So, we have already booked our room at ASM for Sept. 3 - Sept 10. Now we are getting really nervous about staying there. (Have no idea why?) Last year we stayed at PoP in May and enjoyed it. We just wanted to try another resort. Alas, comes the worry! We are considering changing our resort to a moderate. We have DD10, DS7, GP49, GM49, DH32, and Me. We are not sharing a room with GP & GM. But, we do want our rooms to be close together.

We just need some help, advice, what ever you can give would be great. I guess what it boils down to is this. Is it worth the extra money we would be spending to stay at the moderate resort as compared to the ASM. I know the theming is much better at the mod's. How much better, I don't know. Our main concern is bussing (we will not have a car), & just basic service. We recieved good service last year at PoP. I wouldn't consider it to be above and beyond but, as always Disney staffers are the best.

Another side note question. We will be celebrating GP & GM 50th birthdays in DW. Also, DH & I will be celebrating our 13th Anniv. Any suggestions, tips, or advice on what to do. I want to make it really special for my mom and dad! They are not big into celebrating their own birthday's for some reason but, they need to celebrate this one big time!!

Thanks in advance from one girl who loves Disney!!!:lovestruc

so you are asking would it be worth the upgrade to a moderate? Probably not.

stop by a guest services location and get the birthday and anni. buttons
if you have any ADR's make sure they know you are celebrating.

the mod's are larger rooms and it is always nice to try and see other hotels disney has.

Mk when you go to town hall you will recieve a button birthday people to wear all day. Call ahead at the rest you will be going to for a special desert to be ready. Call ahead and tell the hotel about each event. Sometimes they will deliver balloons or wine to the room.

At each park have a photo taken this disney will disney no cost until the end if you want to buy.

If you liked Pop I'm sure you will like ASM. (same as far as I'm concerned, but with different:thumbsup2 icons)
If you want a nice restaurant for just the adults, Calf. Grill @ Cont. is my favorite, closely followed by Jiko @ AKL.
If you want the whole family to go, Chef Mickeys @ Cont. might be fun, or the luau at Poly or Coral Reef @ Epcot..... or stop me if you're heard enough!

Have fun!

In my opinion it is worth the upgrade by far...IF you can afford it. If it does not cause any undue stress to spend the extra money. The mods are more beautiful, relaxing, with slightly bigger rooms. There are more pools that may be a bit more fun. Kids might like PoP or All Star reosrts better because of the large colorful icons. Show some pics to the kids (and Grand parents)of the moderate resorts and see how they feel.

DH & I just stayed at ASMo in December and I wasn't impressed in the least. Although I wasn't expecting much from a value. However, we went over to Pop just to see it while we were there and I would most definitely stay there. The landscaping, food court, pools - pretty much everything looked way nicer than All Star. The only moderate we've stayed at was POFQ, which we love and we've stayed there twice. There are beautiful grounds, the pool is fun, and every building is withing a short walk to the main building. I've also heard great things about POR, and I'd like to try it sometime, although it is substantially larger and more spread out than POFQ.

I agree that the California Grill is a great place to go for a nice celebration. DH & I went there for our anniversary and the waiter really went out of his way to make us feel special. They even brought us a special dessert that said Happy Anniversary from the California Grill. We scheduled our reservations so that we would be there during wishes and it was wonderful. Oh, and I saw several people with kids there - it's not quite as "snooty" as I thought it would be.

OK...here's my take on it. DH and I stayed at POFQ (BC=Before Child) and it was nice...Two years ago we stayed at POP for our Grand Gathering :grouphug: and for the money we paid, it was GREAT!!!

I noticed that you are going during Free Dining...why not stay at the hotel you are booked at (or switch to POP) and get the DlxDDP??? That's what we are doing for our stay during Free Dining!!!!

Why??? Quite simply because we will get to see every single dinner show and eat at some wonderful restaurants that we wouldn't do on the regular DDP (because they take 2TS credits). I really wanted the trip to be special for us as our anniversary is in Sept. and DD6 will be turning 7 in October...we have reason to celebrate!!!:dance3:

To upgrade to DlxDDP is only approx. $30.00 per adult and $10.00 per child per day. I waffled back and forth between "upgrade hotel" or "upgrade DDP" and the DlxDDP upgrade is what I chose for us!!!

My parent's would choose the DlxDDP...they like to be spoiled!!!

Thanks a bunch for all your suggestions so far! Keep em' comin!

OH Yah, I am soooooooooo sorry for all the double posts! :scared: I'm such a nerd some times! :rolleyes1 I have no idea why that happened! Just please forgive me I'm a Newbie to this DIS thing!

Thanks again!!!

Thanks Wendy, we had thought of that idea as well! The only thing I'm worried about is if we will be able to eat all that FOOD! Don't get me wrong I love the FOOD! But, just not sure! Great idea about usuing it to get all the extra special meals that cost 2 credits though! Oh my, decisions, decisions! It would be Yummy! HMMMMMMMMM!

hello!

This is my very 1st post here on this site..... I JUST changed my WDW vacation this am from a value resort to a mod resort.

ASM -> CBR

The reason why I did this was b/c we will be there during the FREE DINING and wanted a "better/nicer" resort! I was SOOO excited to be able to get a mod resort for the same price and the value one!

My vote for you is to upgrade the hotel!!!!:)

I would say if you are able to upgrade then upgrade. The rooms are a little bigger, not as crazy as value resorts. Found the food courts very loud at value resorts. POR/POFQ were great. Love them both. The food court was good as well, didn't seem as loud and crazy as value resorts. The pools are really nice too.

I would say upgrade if possible. I would normally suggest the Coronado Springs, but I am sure that I read on here that it is booked for the time you are looking at. If it is not, it has a great pool for the kids, a counter service and a table service restaurant, a fitness center, a spa (treat your parents to a massage for their birthdays?), bike rentals, boat rentals, lovely path around the lake, hammocks to lay in, hot tub by the main pool. Also, the CSR is known to have the best bus service of all the resorts. It is also quieter and more serene than the values. We have never stayed at the POFQ, but we have visited and it is a charming resort--smaller if you are worried about all the walking at the CSR or Caribbean.

I have limited experience so that it for what it is worth... We went last year for our first WDW vacation and stayed at POR.. .LOVED IT! Although kids REALLY wanted to stay at one of the more colorful places...SO.... we are taking our second WDW vacation this year and and staying at the All Star Music. We are mainly doing it for the kids..... they want to be "in the middle of it all" (DS17 talking.)

I am sure they will LOVE it! Hoping we do!
