Help-urgent Dde Question

Nothing like waiting to the last minute, but I really need some help. My dad had a friend of his call me asking about the DDE. They leave on Wednesday night and will be traveling with a group of 8. Although this is a frequent WDW visitor, he knew little about APs or the DDE. If he were to purchase an AP at the local Disney Store, is there enough time to get a DDE card? I know the actual card wouldn't arrive, but would there be time to join and be able to pick up the DDE letter at Epcot? I'm concerned about the timing because of the holiday. Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase an AP and then join DDE once arriving at WDW? I'm open to all ideas here. Thanks

They could buy their APs at WDW and then call the DDE office with the AP #. They could pick up the temporary card at Epcot GS after 5:30 on the day they order it M-F (although I would think not the 4th).

Do Disney Stores still sell APs? Actually ours never did but now that they are not owned by Disney I wonder if any do?

Thank you. The Disney Store that is closest to us does still sell APs. Does anyone have the DDE number handy?
