Help :-) Upgrade from PO Riverside to either Old Key West or Saratoga Springs ?

We've been offered the same deal, but are concerned about the beds. There are 3 adults going and we've been offered the studio at SS and OKW. It's my understanding that there is a pull out couch in the studio. Do all of them have pull out couches?

OKW rooms have two queen-sized beds and SSR rooms have a queen-sized bed and a sofa bed.

Are they comfortable?

No idea! They look like regular sofa beds. With three adults, I'd go for OKW. :thumbsup2

OKW has 2 beds (Uk king size). SSR has the sofa bed and 1 bed.

I'd upgrade but i'm biased i've booked to stay at OKW!

Hi, :)
The studio at SS has a bed and a sofa bed, which my son said was OK. OKW studios have 2 beds, but I don't know if that will be changing with the refurb.
Btw, OKW rooms are more spacious, so may be better with 3 adults, but then SS has the benefit that the sofa bed can be used as sofa during the day(doh! obvious I know, but I mean more floor space!)

thanks for the quick replies, now we've got a decision to make!

we are staying on the QSDP, is there a lot of choice of food at OKW?

This seems to be a sticking point with most people! There is no food court at OKW, instead they have a food 'hatch' (well it's a bit bigger than a hatch :))
There isn't a huge choice of food, especially compared with POR, but we have never found fault with it.
Will you have a car? If you do, then you could drive to any of the other resorts; POR has a good food court, and so does CSR. Then there is always DTD with WPE, and EOS. I think you can also use the fish and chip place next to Raglan Road, (any one else know for sure?) You can get to DTD from both SSR and OKW by boat :goodvibes
Sorry if I am telling you stuff you already know,

I've just been looking on allears.net at a refurb at OKW. If you click on accomodations at the top, and the scroll down, you can click on some photo's
of 'Good's to go', the counter service at OKW.

thanks for the info jules :)

we've decided to go for the studio at OKW from POR. Its the fridge which won us over, from the photos the rooms in OKW and POR look similar. So aslong as they're proper beds in OKW we're fine. We were concerned with the lack of food court but thinking about it we won't be eating a lot at the hotel. Maybe breakfast now and again but not regularly, and as you said we could always go to DTD.

Thanks again for the info, you've convinced us to go to OKW

Hey jules :)

Hope you're having a great day :goodvibes

You know i composed this reply earlier...so apologies if this is kinda out of whack with Boo :) and her questions

One things for certain its definately a big topic of conversation the uprade offer.

Anyway I can just imagine how manic Port Orleans would have been with all those cheerleaders...just totally crazy :scared1:

So didn't really try the food court at Port Orleans then? only when you stayed at Old Key West...which is kinda ironic considering i was choosing between those 2 resorts :)Considering it was a huge factor in where we are staying cross fingers its as good as i hope.

Have to say i've certainly had the pleasure of being caught in one of Orlando's rainstorms a few times...wow it comes down :laundy:. Girlfriend and i were at Seaworld the last time and ended up running for cover in the baby dolphin enclosure. Which was fun as we watched numerous people just getting soaked will we stayed relatively dry and watching and trying to interact with the dolphins.

To answer your question...we are booked for Port Orleans from Friday 17th September to Friday 1st October 2010. Normally go in september to hopefully avoid the school kids...well thats the idea at least...Howabout you when you going? i know its pretty soon.

Oops ...should have just looked at the calendar thing you have on your posts

Speaking of which where do i get one? girlfriend said she wants one on mine so it shows up whenever i post something.

Hey here's a question for you...Is there any quicker way to get to I drive or Universal without hiring a cab from downtown disney? I've used the lynx service to get to and from universal stuidos and I drive before which i have no problem with...but universal is a 3 bus hop (50 to seaworld...the I ride then...42 to Universal) so was just curious if you or anyone knew of a quicker way...bar forking out loads for a taxi.

Thanks again for all your help...seems like everyone wants to pick yor brains :goodvibes

Have a great day

Phil

Ps...Thanks for the link to the website Wayne :thumbsup2...good website and helped alot...appreciate you sending me the link :)

Great choice! (imo:goodvibes) There is a huge difference in room sizes! You will really feel the benefit at OKW, especially as there are 3 of you :) Also, with the little kitchenette, you can have breakfast in the room if you want!
(and the fridge is a definite plus!:thumbsup2)

Hi Phil:)

I've had an.... interesting day! I work in a pre-school, and I spent this morning making pizzas with 27 3/4 year olds!! Put it this way, it was a definite learning curve!:goodvibes

The food court at PO is pretty amazing! DH and I tried the make your own pasta, which was really good, and we could've shared one, there was so much:)
DS and DD's had pizza, which again was good, but there was so much choice!
Actually, I think I read somewhere that you can get a large takeaway pizza from here + extras for 2 credits, so that might be worth considering! Also DS loves the hot chocolate from here! (I know, hot choc and August, wouldn't really put them together:))
Love the thought of you being in a rainstorm with baby dolphins:goodvibes DD loves dolphins, so she is very jealous!
Sorry, DS did my 'ticker' for me, so I'm sure someone else will be able to help you, as with the buses. I haven't a clue as DH drives!!! This is the best place to ask though, or maybe start a new thread?

Have a good evening!

Hey Jules:)

Hope you're having great evening :goodvibes

Well you've certainly had an interesting day:woohoo:working with 27 odd 3/4 year olds, you certainly like to keep yourself on your toes. Bet you had a great time though :)

Wish i could say my profession is as much fun as yours. I work for Royal Mail as a machine operator and my day was spent making sure all your letters and parcels make there way to their destination:banana:. Still as necessary evils go it's not to bad and it does give me the opportunity to get out and see mickey mouse :goodvibes .

So you tried the make your own pasta at Port Orleans...must admit im looking forward to giving it a try. Definately a pasta fan so thinking about it is making me hungry :) As you've mentioned the biggest factor in favour of Port Orleans is the food court and the amount of choice you get so definately intend to try a few out. I will say as soon as i mentioned the hot chocolate to my girlfriend i think i now know what she will be having when she gets back from the parks in the evenings ;) It took her straight back to November 2008 and being at Disney for Mickeys Christmas Party. You've probably been and as you know they give out free Hot Chocolate on the night with cookies

As for the Dolphins at seaworld...yeah that was really cool. My girlfriend loves dolphins so getting a chance to interact with them with hardly anyone around as most people were running for cover from the rain was great. We'd done discovery cove and the dolphin swim the day before so it just made it a very special 2 days for her. :cool1:

No problem about the question about getting to I drive and Universal...like you say maybe i should post it as a question and see what feedback i get back.

Ok time to make you giggle...:lmao:. i have a slightly stupid/embarrassing question...what does DD/DS/DH all mean. I'm guessing its acroynyms for husband/kids etc..but what exactly does it translate as. Boy i feel so dense:lmao:

Anyway have a fantastic evening and have a fun day with the kids tommorrow :)

Phil :)

This is really cool!:cool1: I only know the really basic abbreviations and most of them I guessed! May even've made up a few:)

Phil, I'm an ebay junkie so thankyou for getting all my goodies to me!!:worship:
We haven't actually managed the Very Merry Xmas Party, or even the Halloween Party!:sad2: Last year the first Halloween Party was the day we came home, and I think it will probably be the same this year! We did get to see the decorations though, so that was cool:thumbsup2
We have been there several times just before Xmas. It's my favourite time:lovestruc DH (darling Hubby) doesn't like the changable weather though, he prefers it hot!!

Jules x

Thanks Wayne for the link to all the abbreviations:thumbsup2

At least now i know what what people mean when they use them in their posts :goodvibes

I don't feel so :confused3 anymore :rotfl2:

So not done Mickeys Christmas Party or his Not so scary Halloween one then jules ? i'm sure you will sometime soon. You would love them both :goodvibes. I'm not sure i could say which one is my favourite..they are both fantastic but disney with all the christmas decorations is just so so magical :goodvibes.

I definately go along with your husbands point of view about the changeable weather for later in the year. Myself and my girlfriend didn't realise how cold orlando can get at night in november. We thought a hoody and 2 t-shirts would be enough but boy were we wrong. "WE FROZE" when we sat to watch the Christmas party parade at night for the first time. We should have seen the warning signs with people all wrapped up and bringing their own wool blankets etc to sit on...but we hadn't packed for bitterly cold evenings. It was that cold it was like being back home :rotfl2: No one said bring a ski jacket :rotfl2:. From that day on it was like lots of layers for anything late at night..i felt like the michellin man with 2 t-shirts a long sleeve top and then my hoody over it :rotfl: plus we both bought Furry santa hats :santa: and mickey mouse gloves and scarf after that:). We might have still been cold but at least we weren't freezing :)

Anyway i'm sure you will have a fantastic time when you go and it's not that long till you do  You'll have to let me know what fun you got up to and what you thought of Harry Potter world if you go. Very much looking forward to seeing Harry Potter World having been in islands of adventure in 2008 and seeing all the signs saying coming soon :-) Seen the odd photo of it but i'm actually avoiding stuff about it so i can go in there like a big kid and experience it without knowing what the rides are like :)

Have a great weekend

Phil :)
