Help! Upcoming cruise vacation question

My generous MIL paid for our entire family (me, DH, our sons, my SIL and BIL, my in-laws, grandparents) to take a cruise. We are starting to think about our budget for extra expenses such as shore excursions, drinks ect. I mentioned to DH about tipping, which on this line is $10 per day per person added to Sign and Sail. My question is, if you were giving a cruise as a gift, would you take care of the tipping or would you expect each family to take care of their own tipping? I'm not expecting her to do this and we are prepared to take care of this on our own (after all, the cruise is a great gift in itself). But my SIL and BIL might have a hard time coming up with the extra money now due to some medical problems. DH really needs to ask her what her plans are, everyone just needs to know what to budget for.
Thanks in advance!

When we took my FIL and StepMIL, we paid for the cruise and told them they were responsible for tips and their spending.

You should plan on paying your own tips. If you think SIL and BIL will have difficulty, you might mention it to MIL. If she or you wanted to put something on their cruise account to help, you can do that at the purser's desk on-board.

What a generous gift!!!
If something like this were given to me, I would expect to pay for my own incidentals, including tips.
Have a great time.
