Help, trip in December and low motivation

I am usually a big big DL planner. We leave Dec 2 and I just can't wrap my head around planning this trip. Usually it is dd8 and I, last year took dgodmother, this year going with the godparents, DD 8, DN 12 myself and DBF (somewhat new and a friend of godparents).
Problem is godfather has cancer and has had a bad bad few weeks. Unclear if he is going to be able to travel, and if he is, I suspect he will spend most of the time in the room. (We are staying at the new Trendwest condo so the room is plently big)
between the illness, all these people, and the new DBF I feel torn in 100 different directions, but want to make it a great trip for DD and DNiece.
How do I manage all this? Help

Wow!!! That is a lot of stress! I hope your daughter's DGodfather is feeling better. The good part is you have your hotel and know where you are going and for how long. You could let your DD and DN set the tempo and tone for your trip and do what they want. That could either take off some of the stress or add to it? If you are usually an uber-planner, this could be very hard, if you can let them take the lead, it could be a really fun trip.

I hope you get some of your Disney Magic back and can enjoy your trip. Have you thought about an ECV (ECV?) rental for DGodfather? We are planning on getting one for my mom who is coming with us in Dec. so she can have a place to rest. She has some mobility issues, but can walk around for short distances, then needs to rest, so an ECV solves that problem. It also gives her a feeling of control, that a wheelchair won't, because she can drive it instead of having someone push it.

I hope that he is feeling better too. I'd say just make the trip about being together. Take you time and enjoy being at the Happiest Place on Earth together. Do the girls favortie stuff and try not to feel rushed to do it all. DLR will look extra special with all the decorations, so there's a lot to take in.

The ECV is a great idea for DGodfather, even if he isn't able to go for an entire day.

Abby I am so sorry about your godfather. We just found out my mother is terminal after fighting ovarian cancer for 3 years. Originally we had invited her to come with us but gave that idea up several months ago because she just wasn't well enough. However, I did do some research into the ECV's (the moving wheelchair things). You can rent them at Disneyland but you can also rent them from company's that will drop them off and pick them up at the hotel. If you have something that can transport one it might be better to look into one he can use 24/7 instead of just inside the park gates. If money and transportation is more of an issue try renting a regular wheelchair and just push. We have a local amusement park here and actually bought season passes and pushed my mom around in a wheelchair she loved watching the kids and just being able to be there. She probably got to go 10-15 times with the grandkids and it was very important for her. I know she often wondered about being a pain but it wasn't that hard and had definate advantages. Talk to you godfather and see how he feels. I would list the advantages to him of him going even if he is wheelchair bound but also make it clear that it is fine for him to decide not to go. I don't know how sick he is but I think sometimes the knowledge that you will support whatever he decides is the most important thing.
As for the kids I think if they really care for him at all (which I assume they know him well and do) then you might be surprized how patient they will be with the whole situation. God bless you and good luck.
