Help! Transportation for 5 - $270.00!

Hi everyone,

I can't believe the cost of our transfers to and from MCO for the five of us (2 adults, 3 children) will be $270.00. We will be visiting WDW 9/18 - 9/25/04. I booked through Disney but made our airfare reservations separate. This is a stretch limo, which the Disney rep told me is our only choice beside the shuttles which he said sometimes take several hours until you get to the hotel. The limo would take us directly to the hotel and shorten the transfer time and would only be $6.00 more than the shuttle. So, it was either $263.00 for the shuttle vs. $270.00 for the limo. That just seems so outrageous (either way). I thought about renting a minivan but the car would likely sit on property all week unused and I would think the cost of the rental would be about the same as the transfers.

Are there any other options or choices available to us? Any additional information is greatly appreciated.

You don't need to pay near that if you don't want a limo. Most of the limo services also have towncars and vans. With 5 people you would need one of the vans. We paid $10 more the van than the town car. I believe most services charge $80 or so for round trip.

Also the shuttle service from MCO is Mears. I believe it is $29 per adult round trip and $17 ( I think) per child.

It's a good thing you decided to check this out on the DIS, because you are paying too much for your transportation. You might want to consider cancelling the transfers you made through Disney, and booking directly with one of the many transfer companies that service the Orlando area. My family generally uses a towncar service (there are just 3 of us, so we fit!), and have tried a number of them. Tiffany (www.tiffanytowncars.com) will charge you $110 round trip (for 1-10 passengers) in one of their vans to any of the WDW resorts. They have a $5 coupon available on their website. Cartier (www.cartiertowncars.com) will charge you $105 round trip (minus $5 coupon) in one of their vans, or $190 (minus $10 coupon) for a limo to any of the WDW resorts. Murray Hill Transportation (www.transportation2disney.com) rents their vans at $90-$100 round trip, depending on which WDW resort you are staying at. You also may want to check out the rates at Florida Tours (sponsor of this Board) or Happy Limo, as many DISer's use these companies as well. Tips will add to the cost, but will still be substanially less than your quote from Disney. Also, as an fyi, most towncar companies will allow a 1/2 hour grocery stop, at no additional cost. This is a nice option, to pick up lower cost snacks for your children to keep in the resort, and put into fanny packs for the parks. If you want this option, you generally need to specify it when you book. Good luck, and let us know how you come out on your transportation from/to MCO.

I just reneted a full size car from national(THANKS DIS'ERS) for hold your socks, $160(taxes and fees included). I learned from mousesaves about a BJ's discount. My rental also has an extra fee because I am returning it to a different airport. So I thionk you could do better than my $160. If I were you I would do that this way if you wanted to go to the grocery store or restaurant off property you will be able to.
