help transfer question

If another member transfers her October use year points which are current use year. To my account which is an August use year. What home resort do they retain? and whose use year do they retain, If its mine and my use year is August when do I have to use them by?

The current reality is they become August points at YOUR home resort. Of course you could transfer them to your next years use year and you MIGHT get a full use year out of them or you might not. Truth is DVC is having problems with this situation and are actively working on a solution for the computer to be able to handle this issue the way the legal paperwork dictates.

Soooo if I do not transfer them into my 04 use year, I use them or lose them July 31st. Are they likely to transfer them into my 04 year. Or does it depend on the Cm I speak with?

That is my understanding. Now this is contrary to what you have in writing as to the rules of transfer. The computers do not have the capability of keeping up with the transferred points separately at this time. What they need to be able to do is essentially create a new contract for the transferred points so they can track the use year and home resort.

YOU will need to tell them which use year to transfer to. IF you do not and do it soon, I would assume they will put them in this years use year. If you transfer them to next years use year a you may end up with only a 2 month window to use them.

They can manually use them for the original home resort that goes with the transferred points if you push them. They must do this manually and unless you really insist, they wil not do so. Doing this manually is slow and may not work for day by day 11 month type of reservations. Good luck.

I transferred points last week to a member who wanted to keep the original use year of my points. On a conference call, we asked the CM to do a manual transfer, which she happily did for us. Seemed to work well!

I think all transfer are manual at this time. The issue will be the other member using the points at a later date. If she transferred and made reservations at the same time, I suspect it would work out better. You might follow up with the person you transferred to and let us know how it goes.

I had a member successfully transfer points into my Feb 04 use year with no problem. I was able to make reservations the following day using those points.
