I am long time reader but I don't post very often -
I have really been thinking of adding on lately and I was wondering
I have 160 BLT points with a use year of Feb. I totally fell in love with the 1 bedrooms so I would need almost double the points to do this every year -
I also kind of like BWV -
If I add on 160 points at BWV with a FEB use year but want to make a reservation at BLT that needs lets say 210 points are the BWV available at that time to use towards my BLT reservation or vise versa ?
I would most likely go to BLT and then BWV every third year-but each year need more than 160
So would the 7 month thing come into play ?
I am trying to figure this out sooner than later with that new resale rule coming into play -
Thanks for any help ,I just want to make sure I understand -

Hi Laura,

You can only use BLT points to book at BLT at 11 months. You can combine points at the 7 month mark only.

You could bank/borrow at BLT to stay at BLT at 11 months, and then do the same at BWV.

Hope this helps,
John

That is sort of what I Was thinking but I did notice allot of people have 50 point add ons at places and the majority of points else wear so I was wondering if those smaller contracts gave them a home advantage
Thank-you for answering so quickly

Keep in mind BWV contracts end in 2042. BLT end in 2060. Disney will probably offer and extension for older resorts at some point. They did at OKW a couple years ago.(15 year extension)

not until you get to 7 months out. at 11 months, you need BLT pts and only BLT pts to reserve BLT. the same is true for BWV - at 11 months, only BWV pts can be used to reserve BWV.

BLT pts have the "home resort advantage" at BLT. doesn't matter if they are banked BLT, current BLT, borrowed BLT or BLT pts transferred in from a BLT owner - but they have to be BLT pts to reserve BLT at 11 months out. the same is true at other resorts...BLT pts cannot get you a reservation elsewhere until 7 months. it doesn't matter what other resorts you own.

at 7 months out, BWV pts can reserve anywhere (including BLT) and BLT pts can reserve anywhere (including BWV).

as an OKW owner, i can tell you the OKW extension went very poorly in a number of ways. i don't expect DVC to offer extensions on the other properties any time soon (although you never know.)

If you like BWV, you could go with BWV; and use every other years.

Like 1st yr use current BLT points and borrow BLT points (and bank your BWV points.

yr 2 Use banked BWV points and current UY for BWV
yr 3 go back to yr 1

You could really have 2 home resorts, just switching every other yr.

If you are going to add-on, make sure you do it before January 31. This way you could potentially get an "extra" set of points (Feb 2010 points).

If and when they offer an extension at BCV, we will most likely do it, depending on what the deal is. I'm sure a big part of OKW extension problem was that it was offered way to soon. It would make more sense towards contract end.

I talked it over with DH and I'm thinking I will look for more Feb. BLT points -
Just for trying to keep it simple with the use years and all - After all the worst that could happen is I would be "STUCK " at BLT ;) -
I missed a great loaded contract a couple days ago so sad- but maybe I will find something even better this week

Heading to the TSS site now -

When we were thinking of added on we went throught the same dilemma. We finally added another 100 points to our 220 points at BLT. We are going this year in May, 2 bedroom, and at the 7 month mark I split my reservations half at BWV, so it all worked out. I also felt the worse that could happen at the 7 month mark was that we wouldn't be able to get BWV and we would have to spend the week at BLT which was fine with us. This also eliminates the confusion of banking and borrowing each year. Good Luck in whatever way you chose.:dance3:
