DH washed one of my slipcovers on Saturday. When he put it back on the couch we noticed some blue spots on it (we assumed crayon.)

Today I open my dryer and the ENTIRE inside is baby blue! How he did not see it when he took the slipcover out is beyond me. IS there anything I can do to get it out? I DO NOT want to put clothes in there!

Thanks!

Editing to add: I put an old towel in to see if the blue would come off onto it and it definitely did! Guess I am going to need a new dryer! :(

Goo-Gone will remove the crayon from the dryer, I would definitely try cleaning it before replacing it...

Thanks! I just bought some of that yesterday! I will try it! :)

Hi,

Did the googone work?

If not, we have used spray n wash and plain rubbing alcholol.

Don't worry, it WILL come out

We've had this happen many times in our 26yo dryer.

herc.

Hey, if you have to sell your dryer and get a new one, I'll bet the BLUE MAN GROUP will buy your old one! LOL! :teeth:

ROTFLMAO!!! :jester:

Definitely hoping the Goo-Gone works for you....I'd be nervous having the Blue Man Group come to my home! LOL ;)

WARNING: Be very careful using goo-gone or any other flammable solvents around your dryer if it is a gas dryer. You might be buying more than a new dryer if you manage to make the old one go "poof".

Try Crayon-a-Gone. It's safe to use and all natural ingredients. I had to useit on my dryer when we had a lot of crayons get in there somehow.

my husband left a marker in his pants pocket..I used fantastic with bleach on a sponge..and it all came off and the dryer was sparkling white again..I made sure to rinse it well after I was done..good luck!

It may not have been crayon. A new pair of jeans, can put blue coloring in your dryer. We have not a crayon in the house and ours sometimes turns blue.

I do not miss that "crayon" stage. I love my son but I definitely do not miss that stage :teeth:

Thanks Everyone! DH is finishing scrubbing the rest of the blue. I did most of it today, but then just got tired of it! LOL!

The Goo Gone and a scrubbing pad are working great.

The dryer is electric so that should be ok-Right?! I havn't turned it on yet. And I will defintely wipe it out after we are done with the Goo Gone.

It was definitely crayon. It was in my maroon slipcover where DD likes to sit and color. Plus we found a chunk melted in the dryer!

Thanks for all of the tips! I learn something new everyday. (Today it was several things! LOL!)

Crayola's website has tips for removing crayon from the dryer drum (and just about any other place).

http://www.crayola.com/canwehelp/staintips/action_tip.cfm

Clean the drum of your dryer to remove any remaining wax residue. Spray a soft cloth with WD-40, and wipe the drum. Run a load of dry rags through a drying cycle to ensure that the dryer drum is clean.

HTH! :)
