Hiya

well before I phone and breathe fire and brimstone at tcd yet again, I wanted some advice, I just got a letter saying our flights have changed from 5a132 to xla132 this means the planes changed right?

anybody have any experiance with tcd changing planes, they did this to me ast december and the flight was horendous!!! also whats xla and can I see there planes anywhere

also we had to fill in a form for jordans wheelchair, and theyre saying it come out of her baggage allowance is this right.?

looks like my days about to suck

anna

XLA are the planes owned/used by Excel holidays, another branch of TCD they should be on a par with TCD. I would query the wheelchair issue again, a lot of companies will have wheelchairs as an extra rather than in your set baggage allowance but its basically up to them to decide. If TCD were allowing you to have the wheelchair as an extra then XLA should too! I'd phone them and pressure them into saying they'll carry it extra.

If you want more info check out XL.com website (TCD/ Excel / XL ..all the same company now).

Sounds to me that they are just re-naming the flight code rather than changing the plane, changing the plane can happen regardless of flight code.

As I understand it TCD are also one of the few airlines that also count strollers as part of the luggage allowance - its so unfair....and even more so for a wheelchair !!!

Hope you have a good holiday :goodvibes ...we've just come back (sniff, sniff)

We used TCD last March and neither that time or the time before was our stroller part of our luggage allowance. They do obviously tag it as part of your luggage but the weight of it was never taken into consideration!
Last time we bagged our car seats/booster seats so they counted but the time before when we had an actual proper car seat that was not bagged it was not taken into account for the weight.

Hi,
They have done the same to us for our flight in July- however the letter said that it was just the flight code that had changed and that there were no other changes, so I took this to mean that it would still be a TCD plane.....I may have misunderstood though......!?

I may be wrong, but I have heard is said that these are just code changes, 5a chaing to XLA, but thre planes and fliughts are the same. So... it may just be that.

It looks like the plane is the same, that must be a relief!

I hope you get the wheelchair issue sorted. It doesn't seem very fair to include it as part of the allowance!

it is a relief,

i still cant get anywhere with the chair i keep getting passed around departments, luckily its a light weight childs chair that was made for her

It would seem to be discriminatory to me :sad2: why should a person with a disability suffer a reduced baggage allowance because of this when a fully able person would not.

Tell them Nicky Campbell will be on the case if they don't get it sorted ;)

alan that would be a good idea

they are already not letting her use her own chair at the airport, they are checkin it at the desk, and providing an adults wheelchair for her. I asked why and they said it takes too long to stow them if we used it to the gate. only thing is jordan is very small and will slide about in an adult chair plus I dont think they have safety belts on like her does.

And what if Jordan has an accident and gets hurt because of an ill fitting chair? It all seems an entirely unsatisfactory way to treat people with disabilities to me. If it takes longer to stow peoples personal wheelchairs at the gate simply start boarding them earlier! :furious:

hi have you been in touch with special needs/operations these people deal directly with the plane and cargo i have a special needs child and have certain requests and these people have been nothing but helpful. my son have a special needs puschair and this gets took at the gate and is not part of my baggage allowance their number is 0870 3006246 hope they are able to help you.
