Has anyone stayed at Summer Bay Resort? This is our first time as a family of 5 to go to Disney. There is a sales pitch. Is it high pressure? How are the rooms and the resort? Would like a nice 2-3 bedroom condo or home off site with very nice accomodations for $80 per night or less. Help! We are booked right now at Summer Bay for Oct.

Thanks,
LDB

Summer Bay is a nice resort. I didn't attend the presentation so I can't help you there. The new 2 & 3 bedrooms are very nice. We did have 1 problem. We are a family of 5 with 3 little ones. We had a 3 bdrm booked but it was a 1 bdrm on one side and a 2 bdrm on the other side. We didn't feel that was safe for the little ones to have 2 seperate units. So they put us up in a house for a little extra $$.

Sue,

Did you find the resort convenient to Disney? Did you use the shuttle? How was the lake and the pool? Were they convenient to where you were staying or was there a lot of walking to get to everything on the property? Would you stay there again, or could you reccommend somewhere better? We got a 2 bedroom for $80 per night for a for 8 nights.

Thanks for your help,
Leslie

Try skyauction.com. You can probably get it for $250 for 7 nights. If you don't want Summer Bay there are other resorts to choose from for the same cost. Summer Bay is kind of far from Disney. We didn't mind the drive. I don't know anything about shuttle service. We stayed in a house. There was an indoor pool on our patio with a hot tub so we didn't use the resort pool.
I think they had a pool for each big section of units. Maybe 3 pools all together. The beach was very small. I think the 3 bedrooms were very nice. The one we went in was brand new.

We sent a friend there on an exchange through our timeshare and they pressured her into a tour even though she wasnt required! They were very rude to her and she didnt know better.

I always say if you want the deal then make sure you can deal with the high pressure presentation.

Summer Bay is a bit further out then most of the timeshares. Its even further out then Orange Lake which is itself a bit further then most of them.

:bounce: Diane,

Can you reccommend a resort? Something convenient to Disney, no more than $70-$80 per night, 2-3 bedrooms, and very, very nice?? Thanks for your help. I am new to all of this, and struggling with where to stay. It will be the first time to go for my children and husband and will probably be a long time before we can go back. We will stay for 8 nights. What do you think about the beginning of Oct? We would like to do the waterparks, too. Would the first of Nov. be too cold for that?

Thanks so much,
Leslie

Leslie, take a look at SkyAuction.com or at the Classifieds listings by owners on TUG - Timeshare Users Group. You may find some good deals on weekly rentals, within your price range. Make an offer to an owner, even if it's a bit below their asking price, if they are asking only a little above your range.

October should have nice weather, even for the water parks. The earlier, the better of course. Watch for the golf classic, when there's a little upward blip in the crowd levels. But it still ought to be okay.

I'm not sure when Typhoon Lagoon normally closes for yearly rehab. It used to be closed during Thanksgiving & Christmas holidays, and the time between. Don't know when that starts, though. By Thanksgiving, we've seen some days quite cool and some good for swimming. HTH.

Thanks Lisa,

I appreciate the sites. I like your verse in Psalms, by the way!

Leslie:rolleyes:
