Help! Stick with AKL or take the Poly

I paid 1300 english pounds for 14 nights including our flight if thats any help, approx $2700??

WOW!!! That is an AMAZING deal. My room only reservation for seven nights at a discounted rate is costing approximately $2,000.

Wow SweetPea that was awesome that you got upgraded. Your story has inspired me to write an email with the same request. My biggest concern is that i'll have two 2 year olds that will absolutely need their naps in the afternoon. I don't want them awakened by loud hammering or the noise of construction. We'll see what happens.

Raven, are u going in November too? I have a 2 yr old too so have the same concern.
Who do you email?
TIA< :confused3

I'm going 12/8 thru 12/15. Construction is slated to end 4/30/09 so my plans to stay at AKL 2007 & 2008 will most likely change until after construction is completed.

I went to disneyworld.com and logged into my account. From there, i sent an email by clicking the "contact us" icon at the bottom of the page. Do NOT use the "contact us" link for technical assistance as that will steer you down a dead end as they can't assist you with this type of request.

These are the options at the bottom of the page:

Disneyworld.com Help | Disneyworld.com Site Map | Contact Us | Guests with Disabilities
Park and Resort Safety
Site Survey: Tell us what you think

Thanks Raven, I booked over the 800# so not sure I have an account but will give it a go.....let us know how you make out...GL! :cheer2:

You stay in 2008 shouldn't be aproblem. The big issue now is the construction going on at the main lodge building. Once they are done converting all the top floor rooms to DVC the lodge will be done. The rest of the construction will be on property, but won't effect those staying at the main lodge.

Could someone tell me when how long the construction is due to go on in the main building? Cannot seem to find that info.

Thanks much!

Oops- I've never had that happen before!
We can't post the link to Tikiman's website any longer. If you want it, you have to search "Tikiman."

AKL or Poly??? 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. They're both great. If you picked AKL, stick with it. That's my opinion. If you happen to get walked to the Poly and you don't detest the Polynesian theme, you'll probably be very happy there, too. :)

I sent a message to AKL exactly as Sweet Pea had done and they replied no-one was being moved after 1st September! I have a reservation through a UK travel operator starting 3rd Oct.

my work colleague who is arriving 4 days before me has just received an email asking her to get her TA to contact Disney to sort things out.

I honestly do not believe Disney is helping matters by telling people different things this lack of clarity is what is causing distress & frustration.

I just wish I knew what to do, we are celebrating our 30th anniversary and I am going into hospital as soon as I return home so we were looking forward to spending a lot of peaceful time together at the resort but although I love the AKL I really do not want to be there if there is construction noise and my savannah view is of diggers etc. We booked last October before any construction was announced:headache:  :sad1:

Anyone else with November dates get any response to an email yet?

Julie UK I would not worry...it looks like they haven't reached October reservations yet,,,,if you are that concerned, and you certainly have legitimate issues, I would call the 800# and ask to speak to Gurst Services with someone familar with the AK transfer issues.
Let us know how it goes..........

Raven, Did you get any response?

I got a call today on my wife's cell phone about the email i sent regarding our upcoming stay at AKL. Unfortunately when i called back the representative, she had already gone for the day. Her message stated that she wanted to give me some information on AKL construction ( or words to that effect ) and/or my reservation there. I'll keep you all posted......if i can find this thread again. I HATE THE SEARCH on this website.

Be great to hear how you get on.

We've now had confirmation from Virgin Holidays that they have processed our move to the Poly at no cost. Hopefully I will still get to stay at AKL one day, but really looking forward to the Poly now. It's going to be amazing for the children to be so close to the Magic Kingdom.

Sweet Pea UK, hope you have a wonderful time at the Poly. We stayed there back in February and loved it. If I had the choice between AKL and the Poly for the same/similar cost, I'd definitely choose the Poly.

Sending pixie dust your way for an awesome stay! :wizard:

Thank you so much. I must be honest - never thought we would be able to stay there as couldn't justify the extra cost - this really is amazing for us and now we have an excuse to go back in a couple of years to try out AKL. ALthough I have a feeling I will be like so many other people I read about on here and once I have experienced the Poly won't want anything else!!!

So today i got the call, on SATURDAY! I wasn't expecting a call on the weekend as the CM's voicemail said her schedule was M-F 8 to 4ET. So i figured i'd get a call on Monday. Getting the call today was a pleasant surprise and our conversation was even better.

She basically told me what was going on with AKL and that construction was ahead of schedule. There will be no more moving people after 9/1/07. She said the probability was 98% that this would hold true. As far as my trip in December, she understood about noise with two 2 year olds during nap time. She said that she'd put a notation in the system to move us to a part of the resort that would have 0% construction going on, unfortunately she did not mention which side. What this actually means is that she's upgrading us from a standard-view room to a Savannah room view at no charge. So the bottom line is that 99% of the people scheduled to stay at AKL after 9/1/07 will be ok. There will be no more refugees coming from the AKL after 9/1/07. <fingers crossed>;)

Wow... I should cancel my existing Poly ressie, book the AKL so they upgrade me to the Poly and save at least 1K.
Must be nice...
