Hi there!
I'm planning a visit to the world in april 2014 and I'm terrified of the crowds from the spring break :scared1:
The thing is I live abroad so I have NO IDEA of when the crowds from spring break appear.
Can someone PLEASE help me with that?? I would really aprecciate it.

=)

Most elementary, middle, and high schools (students ages 5-18) and colleges/universities in the US have a weeklong spring break during the month of March. Some hold it in April. Many schools also have a long weekend break for Easter, and some make their spring break coincide with the Easter holiday. Easter weekend is always one of the busiest times at Disney World, and because of the way it fell on the calendar this year, Easter crowds and spring break crowds collided. In 2014 Easter is on April 20, so it's unlikely the crowds will be quite as bad. Still, it's best to avoid Disney around that time.

You can expect most of March to be moderately crowded. The only week I'd really try to avoid is the week of March 24, when the schools surrounding Disney have their break. Other than that, crowds in March and April should be manageable.

Also, for what it's worth, you can still have an amazing time, even when the crowds are heavy!

We went during Easter week a few years ago - and at that time, I was dreading it. I went only to appease my husband, who is against pulling the kids out of school for Disney. I thought we'd go and it would be so horrible we'd never have to go ever again. And actually, we had a fantastic time! The weather was fantastic. Yes, the crowds were heavy. But we managed. And I would absolutely go back during Spring Break again.

Will this be your first trip to WDW? If so, make sure you spend lots of time here on boards gaining as much information as you can. Utilize the things that will help you make the most of your time (rope drop, fast pass, mid-day break, etc) and you can still have a wonderful trip.

Good luck! :-)

Last year DD and I went during the week after Easter. We had a great time and found it much easier to do everything than we'd anticipated (and we stayed offsite). I'd always avoided that week previously, but would have no problem going back at that time.

We went during spring break for many years, which for us was at the end of March. Yes it's crowded, but if you use Fast Passes, get to the parks early, take advantage of Extra Magic Hours if your staying onsite, you'll be fine. It always seemed to be the most crowded at the Magic Kingdom and always around 2p.m. The afternoon parade is at 3p.m. We always leave at that time, go back to our hotel and take a dip in the pool!

As a PP mentioned, Easter is April 20, 2014. So if you can avoid the week before and week after you will be fine. I was nervous about the spring break crowds this year and it really was manageable, provided you go early and have a good plan and keep your expectations reasonable. Have fun!
