Help! Smells on Soarin'?

I know on Soarin' you get hit with smells too, but my question is...are they very strong? I'm pretty allergic to most fake fragrances (like christmas pine airspray and stuff like that) and was wondering if I should skip this attraction alltogether. My BF wants to go on it very badly so as long as the ride itself isn't too long and the smells aren't THAT strong, I was planning on trying it out, if I come out with hives I know not to go on again, lol. Any thoughts?

Actually the only real smell that I notice while riding Soarin' is the Orange smell when you see the Orange Groves! Sometimes it's rather strong while at other times it's not too bad. If you are allergic to Oranges...you don't wanna do it. Otherwise, it's great fun! Helen

In addition to the oranges, there is a pine smell. I don't know what they use for the smells, but the pine smell isn't that strong (not as strong as the oranges). I barely noticed it on my first ride. Have you done Mickey's PhilharMagic? If you could take the apple cinnamon smell on that, you should be fine. They probably use the same technology and chemicals.

I'm highly allergic to fragrances as well, but I love Soarin's smells. To me, they are subtle and well done and the only instance in WDW where they don't overpower me.

I always have to sniff really big to smell them. On other attractions, I have to keep my nose closed. I'm so done with the disgusting Smell-O-Vision scents (Stitch and Imagination).

I am extremely sensitive to fragrances and have never had a problem on Soarin. As Blondeheroine said, very subtle. The ride is so worth it. If you are still concerned, just keep a tissue in your hand to cover your nose if need be (the smells are that subtle.)

I'm sure I'm the only one, but I don't remember smelling anything on Soarin'. Obviously I must have, but was so engrossed in the visuals that I didn't notice.

We rode Soarin' 6 times over 3 days two weeks ago. During some flights, you don't smell anything; during others, it is fairly strong.

I suspect that the closer you are to the middle of the screen, the less you will smell something. We experienced the strongest smells and puffs when we were on the sides and the top or bottom of the ride.

We rode Soar'n 3 times in two days in Sept. Only on one of the flights did I get the smells. When they are there it is very faint (but pleasant) but I think that a lot of seats have malfunctioning 'smell dispensers'.

We were there last week and rode Soarin' twice. It's an amazing ride. I hope you'll be able to ride it. It does have a pine scent and an orange scent. On both occassions that we rode Soarin', I found the pine scent to be pretty strong and the orange scent to be more faint.

Several sites have the following.......

In the Ventura orange field scene, for example, guests are treated to the scent of orange blossoms. The Monterey and Malibu scenes have the scent of a sea breeze while the Palm Springs and Anza-Borrego scenes feature the scent of sagebrush.

I do think there is also a pine scent in the forest scene. As said, I do think all the scents are very mild.

I can hardly walk down one section of our mall because of those fragrance mister things but the scents on Soarin' don't bother me at all.

Actually, no - each seat has its own vent for moving air and scent.

However, I barely notice the scents myself, and I am like the OP, very sensitive to artificial scents. Whenever someone in my office uses hand sanitizer within 50 feet of meI get shooting pains through my sinuses; walking as much as 75 feet behind someone on the sidewalk who has perfume or cologne on makes me nauseous. But the scents on Soarin' don't bother me a bit, nor does the apple pie smell on Phil. The stink bug on ITTBAB and the chili dog burp on Stitch's Great Mistake both make me sick, though, so I have to hold my breath through them.

And on Stitch, you're going to have trouble covering your nose, so you might want to skip it all together. I would tell you that you won't be missing much, but it might make someone want to smack me.

wow everyone thanks so much for the responses!! After reading them all we're going to go on and I do think I'll take the advice of bringing a tissue on with me just incase I need to shove it up my nose, lol.

And thanks for the heads up on Stitch, PhilharMagic and ITTBAB. Stitch and ITTBAB aren't on my must see lists so no big deal. As for PhilharMagic I'll probably just make sure I have more tissues.

I'd be curious about that too. I didn't smell a thing when I rode the original at DCA recently
