I am so sick to my stomach right now - nauseous and feeling green! However, I eat low carb, so I don't usually eat the things that help a sick stomach, like saltine crackers, ginger ale, etc.

What should I do? Nothing - just tough it out? Eat saltines anyway as long as I count the carbs and don't eat too many?

Anyone have any ideas out there??? I'm stuck at work and am feeling just awful!

Sorry to hear that you are feeling so sick. I don't do Atkins so I can't really help you with what to eat. I just wanted to say that I hope that you soon start feeling better.

Doreen,
Why are you sick? Food poisonong, virus, Expecting? (I'm sorry if the latter is the case and I didn't know;) ) I guess if it is either of the first 2, I wouldn't eat anything. If it's the latter, geez, I don't know enough about atkins these days to help you with that. Hope you feel better!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

I would try to get some diet gingerale, 7up or sprite and then have a couple crackers if you need to settle your tummy. Do you have access to some canned chicken broth? You might want to sip on a little heated broth.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Tracy, I'm definitely NOT preggers - hubby and I figured out how to prevent that years ago....LOL! With DS 15 and DD 14 I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I loved that period of my life, but I've moved on. :p

I'm guessing I ate something that isn't agreeing with me. I tried a new low-carb bar this morning and maybe it contained a sugar alcohol that I can't tolerate? I also had a mini-binge of 6 chocolate chip cookies (150+ carbs!) last night, and we low-carbers tend to get sick if we pig out on carbs.

I don't think it's the flu or a virus or anything - just food-induced nausea. I really wish I could just get sick and feel better, but no such luck.

Thanks for the ideas, Jody, and for the support, everyone!

Yogurt always helps me when I feel sick to my stomach. Blue Bunny SF yogurt has about 5 effective carbs. Same thing with Dannon Lite & Fit (or something like that). I like BB better though because it's sweetened with Splenda instead of Nutrisweet.

Hope you're feeling better soon!!!

Sugar-free ginger ale or 7up, chicken broth, egg drop soup (homemade is fast and easy!), WASA crackers, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, sugar-free jello... they'll all help a yucky stomach.

In case it's a virus I would avoid milk products. I have heard that they can aggrevate your tummy more. I hope you feel much better soon!

If it's a reaction to the cookies or other carbs, you might just have to tough it out. I pigged out on bad carbs (chips, crackers and chocolates) just once. I'm on Atkins and at the time I was still pretty much on induction - i.e., less 20 carbs per day. I got soooooo sick. Very bad cramps/gas and also felt nauseous. Nothing helped. Took several hours before I felt OK. The only good thing was that I have not been tempted to pig out on bad carbs again!

Hope by the time you read this, you are feeling good again!

I can honestly say I feel the same way today. SIck as a dog with my stomach. Which isn't good after GBS>

Thanks, all, for the suggestions and support!! I knew I could count on my WISH friends!!

I was nauseous all day yesterday and it did not get any better. I ate a few cashews at lunch time - felt no better and no worse. I ate a little pork roast last night, as well as a little SF jello and whipped cream - felt no better and no worse.

My husband said he felt the same way after eating the same brand of low-carb protein bar, so maybe it's something in their ingredients that my body doesn't tolerate well.

I'm still feeling a little off this morning but I'm sure it will pass. I've saved all your ideas up so I'll be ready the next time!

Thanks again!!

I'm glad you are feeling a little bit better Doreen!:D

That cheat free star clippie is reall cute!

I tried to think what would really sit well on my tummy. I ate a cup of cooked oatmeal with just a few raisins = 31 carbs. I know this is NOT acceptable for those on induction, but I do fine with keeping my carbs under 60 for the day, so as long as I'm careful the rest of the day, I'll be just fine.

The good news is - it really did settle my stomach!! Hooray!!
