Help! Should I change from CR to Poly for Christmas?

Please - I need your opinions!

We have reservations for December 23-26, 2005 at the CR Tower Concierge, but I have been thinking of changing to Poly GVC for those 3 nights. Here are my reasons:

1. It's only $5 more for "full" concierge as opposed to limited.
2. The pictures of the concierge lounge at the Poly are gorgeous, and I don't think the 10th floor CR concierge even has a lounge right now.
3. We stayed at Poly a while back and it was not a good time. The room was smelly and not well laid-out. I'd love to give it another chance, since everyone else seems to love it so much, and try out the "new" rooms.
4. The CR may be a little too big, loud, and non-Disney for us.
5. The evening concierge offerings at the Poly look and sound yummy!

So, should we change? If we do, will we definitely get a "new" room? Has anyone been to both at Christmas and if so, is one better than the other for the holiday spirit?

I have not been to either at Christmas, but I have stayed at both at other times of year. I would definately give the Poly another chance! I love the tropical atmosphere...I'm not sure why people don't love it. The rooms are actually some of the largest on property, and especially if you get a new room, I'm sure you'll love it! The Contemporary to me doesn't seem very "Contemporary"...it seems kind of 1970's cheesy...it's been a while since I've stayed there but it's never been my favorite. Poly is #3 for me (after GF and WL).

Does anyone who has been to the Poly lately know if we will definitely get a renovated room if we book the Poly GVC for 12-23 through 12-26?

It sounds like you will get a new room. Have you read BCV's resort report on the Hawaii building? I am sure that will seal the deal for you!
