HI!

We (my hubby, our 7 year old daughter and myself ;) will be going on our 1st Disney cruise on Feb 25th and I'm trying to decide between rooms! We will either be choosing an inside stateroom on Deck 7 or a Deluxe Oceanview on Deck 2. I've been reading that Deck 2 is rather noisy?? Is it worth it for the oceanview? Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you in advance!!!

Hi! Which ship and when are you sailing? That will help folks to help you. :cutie:

If you're trying to save money, do an inside stateroom. On the Fantasy and Dream, the Inside staterooms have virtual portholes, which are fun. If you are going on a shorter cruise ( 3 or 4 nights), you might not consider it worth paying the extra for Ocean View. Bottom line is that you won't be in your stateroom a ton, as there is WAY too much going on and to do on the ship! :cutie:

I have been on Deck 2 on the Wonder in an Inside for the Hawaii 14 night and in an Ocean View on Deck 2 for a 7 night Alaska sailing. We had no issues with noise.

Dream? Nice! She is a BIG ship. All the Disney ships are so beautiful. You're going to love it!

Thank you! It's only about $100 difference, so not too much. But I see your point about not staying in the room very much!

I keep thinking midship, but do you feel much movement if you are on Aft or Forward?

If you can get midship, I would as a first time cruiser, especially if anyone in your party tends toward motion sickness. It is true that one can feel more motion at the front and back of a ship. Also, the higher up the stateroom, the more motion one could feel.

I have had rooms all over a ship, forward, aft (which I personally kind of like), midship, very high and down on Deck 2. They were all pretty awesome! :cutie:

Depends... What is the price difference for the Ocean View vs Inside?

EDIT: I see more or less 100$. I would say, it depends on your budget. If 100$ is easy for you then go for it. If that 100$ prevents you from doing something you really want to do then don't do it.

While I don't think a cabin with a view is a real "need", it can definitely be appreciable.

For us, we need natural light or we would sleep the cruise away so we always go Oceanview over interior. We have sailed deck 2 MANY, MANY times and have not had real issues with noise. It would depend on where your deck 2 cabin was specifically. If you decide to go with an OV, when you are picking your cabin, check to see what is above you on deck 3.

We don't have an issue with motion so don't really pay attention to it. But midship would be best if you have anyone with motion sickness. But if you are going to feel the motion, you will feel some everywhere. We like it at night as it rocks us to sleep.

Motion on the Dream I don't believe is a factor. It doesn't go very far (Bahamas) so you don't go very fast. They can get to the next stop in no time, so it almost feels like the ship is on idle.

With first cruise, you probably would be fine with inside. There is so much stuff you will want to do, you'll find you aren't in your room as much. As you cruise more, you start the value naps, especially if you stay up for the late night adult shows. We like Oceanview rooms too, but never cruised on deck 2 of the Dream.

We had an inside room, midship, on our first trip on the Fantasy a couple of years ago. The magic port hole was fun! I wouldn't hesitate to go that route again. As others have mentioned, since it is your first cruise, you probably won't be in your room much. There's a lot to explore on those big ships!!!

Have a great trip!

We've only stayed Deck 2 Inside on the Dream (twice). We love it. My daughter prefers the magical porthole to the actual window. It's more fun. Your 7 year old might too. Also, I figured if we started at the lowest price state room and we liked it, I wouldn't have to spend more money on future cruises because I had set the bar too high at the beginning!

I'd opt for the oceanview just to get the extra space for 3 people, and the split bathroom. Either room type would be nice, though. The virtual portholes are cool.

I keep thinking midship, but do you feel much movement if you are on Aft or Forward?

We sailed on deck 7 forward on the Disney dream and I thought there was so much motion!!! I was incredibly dizzy every time I had to return to the stateroom, or eat at the far aft dining room (Animators) while the ship was moving, but I was totally comfortable mid-ship. But my husband did not feel a thing the entire trip, and our kids were split down the middle (one felt it, the other did not). So I would expect you are going to get a bunch of different answers here on whether you feel the movement or not, but I think the real answer is "it depends." Some people are sensitive to it and others aren't.

WE did and inside room on deck 7 on the dream, I believe it was room 7049. We loved it. Found deck 7 to be the perfect location to get to the MDRs, pools and activities.

I’m not saying that inside stateroom is better than the ocean view but it seems like folks are sharing then benefits of the ocean view only. We have done an inside stateroom once (before magic porthole) and it was a great place to sleep. If you like to sleep in or have a nap sometime in the day that might be helpful. Also note, that with the deck 7 level you mentioned, it would be possible to skip the elevators, as long as no one in your traveling party requires the elevator. Especially around dinner/show time and after the muster drill it is nice to avoid long waits at the elevators.
