Good morning everyone,

I need your help. Despite the fact that I have got my tickets in front of me (Disney Tickets arrived 5 minutes ago) and we are ready to go for our trip out on Thursday I am getting really worried. I am taking my children on a 2 centre (Orlando / sarasota) fortnights holiday intended as a "holiday of a lifetime" before my eldest goes to school in September. So last year when I booked up I was so very keen to make it right and using my not very well thought out logic I thought that the best time was June (It's actually my sons 2nd Birthday and my 9th Wedding Anniversary) the day before we go.
So you would think I would be delighted, and part of me is. BUT....I am going to blow about £5k (including everything - just an estimate) and the looking forward to this for 1 year on 2 weeks getting rained on ?

i know it sounds daft but I am sitting here wondering if it's going to be completely spoilt by the weather. I've been before in Sept and not seen much rain at all but seen lots and lots of blazing sunshine.

Will I have my fortnight spoilt - all the weather web sites are just predicting the same things - cloud cloud and thunderstorms..... I could get that in Wales (not offence intended to Wales..) for much less money and travelling time....

Please please - can someone give me a positive. I just want my kids to have a brilliant time - thats not too much to ask I hope ?

We have been mostly in June and once in September before and we have learnt to not pay too much attention to the weather forecast.

If you compare the 5 day forecast on the BBC website to the Weather.com website you will see that apart from one day, the BBC has big suns and high 20's low 30's for the next 5 days. The Weather.com website has chance of thunderstorms every one of the 5 days!!!!

Who do you believe?

Yesterdays forecast was for thunderstorms and rain most of the day, however when I looked at the webcams at orlando-webcams.com it was mainly sunny with a few clouds. I could see the shadows!!!!

Just wait and see how things are when you get out there. Every time we've arrived the weather has been poor, but everytime the next day has been blazing hot and sunny all day...both in June and September!!!!

You will have a great time :cool1:  :cool1:

Maybe you could get rain in Wales but you couldn't get Micky or Minnie in Wales!

Don't worry, we were there last september and had a rain shower (heavy!) and thunder most afternoons but it was still hot. Then on our middle weekend hurricane Frances paid us a visit!! It was so bad (NOT) that we're going again this September - yes hurricane season!
Believe me its not like when it rains here, you dodge the drops then its sunny again and everywhere dries up.
And just remember, despite the weather, you're in a magical place. Hope you have a great time.

You'll have a great time. :umbrella: The kids will love being out in the rain. :umbrella: It's not something they're usually allowed to do!

Don't let all this worry spoil the final excitement. Will you be up at 2am on Thursday morning, dressed and sitting on the end of your bed waiting for the kids to get up??? Hope you are cause you ought to be!!!

Have a fantastic time!!!!!

Congratulation to you on saving so hard. Happy birthday and happy anniversary too!!

:cool1:

I live in Wales - believe me, it's not the same rain ;)

We've been fortunate that we haven't had much rain during our trips to Florida but, even when we have, it hasn't stopped us from having a wonderful holiday. (To be honest, I'm more worried about the sun and heat for our trip next month than the thunderstorms - maybe it's got something to do with being used to Welsh weather! ;) )

Oh, and welcome to the DIS boards

So if it buckets down on you then it buckets down on you. So what

You will be in the best place in the world, with the best people in the world, your loved ones.

Who needs sunshine. :umbrella:

The weather reports tend to give an average weather prediction for the 'Orlando Area'. Rain and thunder storms in Florida can be very localised, so you can be in Epcot and be dry while MK is being drenched.

Just pack you ponchos and have fun :) Even if it rains, it still warm and it's amazing how quickly things dry out.

Have a fantastic time, the more it rains the less the crowds, no need to wait for an hour for a parade space either, get your ponchos on! :umbrella: ,
seriously have a fantastic time! :bitelip:

Have a briiliant holiday. I'm haven't been to Floria in July (next month will be the first time) before but when we were there one April it bucketted down and we still had fun. And in October 2003, my first trip with the kids we all got drenched and just kept laughing at my son (then 5) who hated showers but was dancing in the warm rain. :umbrella: :umbrella:

You'll have a great time!! Enjoy. :wave2:

hi, we were there last week, rain forecast for all day tuesday, tipped down all morning, so went to florida mall, boling hot and dry by twelve so spent afternoon in almost empty epcot, was boiling, 5 min wait for mission space, would swap rain in florida for a day in work and kids would gladly swap a day in school, and we live in wales and are used to rain, you will have a fantastic time. I think when you look forward to something for so long, we all get a bit wobbly as it comes nearer, well I do, I panicked a few days before that my itinerary was too much, and everyone would have a terrible time, as I was main organiser for party of ten, we had a brill time and you will too! my kids loved it in the swimming pool in the rain the night before we left, they cant do that at home in welsh wales! :teeth: :umbrella:

Hilary - I'm in Neath!

To the OP - the rain in Orlando is NOT like our rain. It usually consists of a full thunderstorm that lasts about 15mins at most. As you're going in summer you may even find that the rain is a nice relief during the day as it clears the air a bit.

Please, don't think that the Florida weather will ruin your holiday (unless it's something more along the lines of a tropical storm or hurricane) because it won't :flower:
Really, as someone else has said - if it rains, so what? You'll be having so much fun that you probably won't notice!

If it rain buy a poncho and carry on.
We did ioa in the rain and walked on everything with no wait.
Sometime's the rain's a nice relief from the heat.

One of my fondest WDW memories is when we took my mum and my brother and his family for their 1st visit. We'd had a great day at MK and about 6.00pm the heavens opened! My DH bought us all the obligitory yellow Mickey ponchos and as we sheltered under an awning, my brother said "I've never seen so many happy people in a rainstorm!" while my 4yo niece jumped in puddles singing "Singin in the Rain"! Then as we made our way to the Monorail station a voice behind us shouted "Hey you in the yellow poncho!" and about 1000 people turned around! Still makes me chuckle to this day! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Just remember that rain can be fun in Florida!

Rain in Wales? Rain in Orlando?

No brainer to me! :earboy2:

If it rains then everyone will run for cover, Do what I did when the same happened to me at DLPR. Jump in a few puddles, splash the French girls walking along side you and smile! :teeth:

We were in WDW in August a couple of years ago and the storms were amazing :umbrella:
DD (then 4) had a whale of a time dancing in the rain and puddles with all the American's looking at her as though she was crazy :goodvibes
Enjoy.
:grouphug:

We fly out on friday and were really looking forward to. Don't let the weather get to you. I'm just hoping its great, but we do expect some thunderstorms in the afternoon. Hope you have a fantastic holiday :cool1:
