Hi there! I am thinking of renting points from a DVC member amdn was wondering if you buy the points and then purchase park tickets seperate. If so are you still able to get free dining during available times. Thanks for the help.

nope, free dining requires a package booked with Disney reservations paying rack rate for the room and tickets.

thanks for the info, I guess thats a deal breaker for us. We like to go to Disney during free dining and take advantage of that offer. Someone had told me if you rent during the free dining period since you are not a memeber you can get the free dining if you but the magic your way hopper with basic dining

No, because you are giving your lodging money to a member, not to Disney. Disney uses free dining as a way to fill its cash rooms. A DVC member renting out points is actually a competitor for your vacation cash.

Sure, if you pay Disney directly for a DVC unit you can get the free dining. But members don't get free dining so if you rent from a member you couldn't either. However, I'd be happy to rent to you with free dining, but I'd just add the cost of the dining on top of the rental costs which is essentially what Disney does anyway.

The dining plan is attached to the room, not to the tickets. DVC members can buy the dining plan without tickets. Wouldn't that be very unfair to members if renters could get it but not members?

If you are planning to stay in a deluxe or dvc resort, you may want to look at the DVC rental cost and add the cost of the dining plan. You might still be ahead because there are no room discounts with free dining. Also, sometimes a room discount plus paying for dining is cheaper than free dining at the more expensive resorts, especially if you only have 2 or 3 people. A 40% discount on a $400 room is $160.

I think what someone might have been referring to is booking a MWY package, through Disney, at the DVC resorts. This you can do.

If you go through a member who rents you a reservation, then its a private transaction and thus, the dining plan is additional.

However, as PP stated, check out the actual prices as a rental + the dining plan may still be less expensive than booking through Disney. But, before you make a decision, be sure you know that differences between the two (ie: mousekeeping, cancellation policies, etc.)
