Help RE: tickets, linking and FP

Hi all,

While I am a Disney veteran and AP, I have a friend traveling soon to the World and he has some question that I am not sure about. I ALWAYS stay on property, so of course have magic bands and my ticket is an AP. He will be staying off site & tells me he bought tickets directly from Disney, but they were mailed to him and are of a paper variety. His trip is in a little over a week & he tells me he has FP's in place, but that his tickets aren't linked? That makes NO sense to me as if one tries to make a FP without linked tickets, you will get a message saying you need tickets before you can do so.

Also, since his tickets are paper, I would have to assume they would need to be redeemed at a ticket window for a key to the world type card to gain access into the parks and at FP+ entrances.

Does anyone have experience with this? Because I am at a loss as to how to guide the poor man.

1. We know that cannot be true. (See #3.)

3. Disney does not issue any "paper" tickets at all anymore.

Giving him the most generous benefit of the doubt...
He MIGHT have just been mailed a "confirmation" of his buying tickets,
and when he bought them, they automatically linked to his MDE.
That is assuming that he HAS an MDE and it was active at the time he ordered his ticket.

That is what I was thinking, but this guy has his act together. I will triple check that he bought the tickets directly from Disney, but says he did. I can't imagine how he would think he did FP selections if he didn't. Even though he isn't a frequent flyer, he is really into planning & even has a touringplans subscription. I am totally scratching my head about it all, but really want to help him. Have you any thoughts or suggestions??

Anything is possible I suppose, but doesn't seem at all like his MO. Maybe they are actually all linked and he doesn't know it. I will have him log into his MDE with me there and I will look things over. That is probably the quickest way to get to the bottom of things. Thanks!

Too funny! He came to me this morning all embarrassed that the tickets that he received in the mail indeed were the card type, and NOT paper as he thought. He went to try and link them all and they were already linked, just like we knew they would have to be to do FP's LOL!
