can anyone help. i feel like i'm getting quoted really high rates when i see what other people are paying. we're going for 3 nites, 2/28, 3/1, 3/2. we're only spending time in the park for 2-1/2 days. the quotes i'm getting for those 3 nites, w/a standard room in Pop Century, with hopper pass and dining plan for 2 adults and 1 child is $1422.81. oh, and this is thru AAA. i've seen other people paying only $220.00 or so a nite just for the room rate thru AAA. am i better off doing that and buying park passes when i get there each day and fending for meals out of pocket when we get there? any help from any veterans is greatly appreciated. also, what is CRO? is that reservations thru disney itself? should i contact them and how do i do so for a quote?
thanks alot to anyone who can help!!!

How old is your child?? I just typed in the info on Disney's web site for 2 adults, 1 child aged 12 (I wasn't sure of the age so I added in an "older" child; a younger child 9 or under would cost a bit less because their portion of the dining package would be less), 3 night at Pop Century in a standard room, with 3-day park hoppers (you mentioned you'd only be in the parks for 2 1/2 days), comes out to:

Disney's Pop Century Resort Package Total: $1,441.33†

02/28/06 for 3 nights
2 Adults, 1 Child

Feel groovy on a nostalgic stroll through decades past in this rad Resort hotel that takes a colorful cruise from the 1950s through the 1990s.
Resort Category: Value
Room Type: Standard View Room
Ticket Type: 3-Day Magic Your Way with Park Hopper option
Package Type: Magic Your Way Package with Dining

Includes Disney's Magical Express!

I would think that the AAA travel agent would be saving you more than $22. Do you know if her package includes 4 days park hoppers? When I entered your info, the computer automatically defaulted to 4 day park hoppers, I had to manually change it to 3 day park hoppers. Ask the agent, this change could save you even more money.

CRO stands for Central Reservations Office, and it's the place you call when you call Disney directly to book a Disney resort room or package. But you can't call them and get the AAA discount AND a package together, that must be done through a AAA travel agent. We have AAA, and I wish they'd let us book this package directly with CRO (Disney) because I have no confidence in turning my booking over to a AAA agent.

TO answer some of your other concerns: No, I don't think you're better off waiting until you get there and buying park tickets each day; it's cheaper to get the tickets in advance, for however many days you'll be doing parks for. I also think the Dining Plan is a great idea for most families.

Edited to add: I just re-entered the info, but this time using a child under the age of 9, and this is the price quote I was given:

Disney's Pop Century Resort Package Total: $1,326.25†

02/28/06 for 3 nights
2 Adults, 1 Child

NEITHER of the above quotes take into account any kind of AAA discount, so your AAA travel agent should be able to give you a better price than these!!!

Unforturnately you are picking busy time of year, from Mid-February through mid-April (or later, depending on the date of Easter), especially holiday weekends including President's Day and Easter, huge crowds, high resort prices and expensive airfares.

If you could move your trip back to before 2/15 or after April you'd do much better on prices.

did you get that $1325.00 rate from Disney using a AAA discount? That's odd that you got almost $100.00 completely less than what my agent came up with. did yours include the insurance? next time we do this i'm going to pick a less busier time but had no choice due to the fact that we'll already be at a work conference in orlando for dh the 3 nights before we head over to the disney resort. so we figured since we were already going to be in orlando for 3 days we might as well stay at disney for the next 3 nights and make it a week. just stinks that it happens to be on busy price time. just kills me to spend almost $1500.00 for 2-1/2 days ANYWHERE lol. oh well, you live and you learn. we've already got plane tix booked so nothing i can do now.

Hi:

No, it did not include any kind of discount, that was the regular full price for that package, directly from the Disney World web site. I did not see where it includes insurance so I would assume that it does not include insurance.

I did this out on the other thread with the 5 nights but here goes...

115 (standard room pop, peak season)* 3(nights) = 345 *.85(subtract aaa 15%)= 293.25*1.11 (11% tax)=325.51

adult 3 day ticket 192.77*2=385.54
child 3 day ticket 158.69
hopper 42.50 * 3=127.50

adult dining 38*3*2 =228
child dining 12*3 =36
tax (6.25%??) = 280.50 for dining plan total

TOTAL should be about 1277.74

My prices will be off possibly in the following - i think i am a tad low on my tax rates and my ticket prices are gate prices. edited - if you did not sign a waver denying insurance then you have paid for it and so maybe that accounts for the difference? insurance is pricey.

The OP still hasn't mentioned the age of the child...

Something is definitely off, though, & I would contact the agent who gave the quote.

is automatically added unless you specifically ask it to be removed and is quite pricey. I agree, this could be the difference.
Also, winemedineme, it's difficult to help when you keep changing things. First you said 5 night, then 3, quote didn't include dining, now it does. Could you please give us the full scoop again, including dates and your child's age?

Pooch
