so I brought this up to my boyfriend and he mentioned he would draw a pile of shoes... If you still didn't get anything maybe that can help

That's a great idea. Whenever I see pictures of like piles of shoes, I get chills.

I really wanted to do the blank idea. But my english grade is slipping, and I really didn't want to risk it. And I was so beat, I fell asleep before I could see your suggestions! I'm so mad, I love all of your ideas!

I drew a pair of a pair of shoes, because 1. The nazis made the Jews take them off when they came to camp 2. They were an empty pair of shoes just like how Jews felt empty and 3 Because some of them would never walk the earth again.

Not incredibly creative, but.... it's over now.

Anyway, I read ahead, and finished Night ahead of schedule. It was hard to read, but I couldn't put it down!

Awe that's a shame that you fell asleep, but the pile of shoes is a fantastic idea so I'm sure you did well anyway! And great expression of what the shoes represent, I never thought of that. And that's so very creative!

Woah! I just read that in English class! It was a very good book. The ending shocked me though.

If you can somehow find it, try to watch the Oprah special when she and Elie go back to Auschwitz. Its very touching! I literally almost cried it was so sad!

We watched the special in Reading. Well, my class did. Me and 3 other girls couldn't watch it. Things like the close ups of dead bodies and stuff doesn't agree with my mind, it messes me up kinda if you get what I mean. And we got to leave that class thank God. I cried a bit, and I didn't even watch the part on the babies, I would completely lose it. People gave me some crap actually for leaving the class, I'm like whatever it's depressing. Me and the guy I like were talking about it and he said he cried a little and I thought that was really sweet but that's really really off topic hahaha.

Oh, and my mom said next time we go to Poland she wants to go to Auschwitz. I'm like, if I can't watch a movie on it, how am I supposed to really go there?! She came over here when she was 14 and apparently in 8th grade you get to go there as a class trip, my aunt got to go and she said it was so sad. They have like people's suitcases, classes, cards, and personal stuff there.

Oh my god, just thinking about standing under that sign makes me..nauseous. It just gives me 'one of those' feelings. Creepy, weird feelings.

I was reading a book (Rena's Promise, if any of ya'll are interested) where the girl spent 3 1/2 years in Auschwitz-Birkeneau, and when she was 70-something she returned and took pictures of herself there. I stared at those pictures for a long time just imagining how awful it was. *shiver*

But I actually would like to visit one day. I don't think I would make it very far inside, but....yeah.

They have like people's suitcases, classes, cards, and personal stuff there.

I think my English teacher is bringing it in on Monday.
I just read the ending today....it made me feel awful! I just visualized him..and what he was talking about...and.... >.<
I can't even imagine what those people went through.

I wanted to! It was sooooo sad!

See I dont know about any of you but I get mixed feeling from the Holocaust. Like I like learning about it because it's so interesting. But I dont like it because its sad and hard to learn.

A couple weeks ago I had an awful dream. I think it had to do with the Holocaust. I might tell it later........if anyone cares...........

They have like people's suitcases, classes, cards, and personal stuff there.

They have some of the "houses" set up as museums and in big storage room things, they are filled with shoes, baby clothes, suit cases, identification cards, and even hair. Yes hair. They have it so its like an exhibit where you can actually see this. When I saw the baby clothes and the hair I teared up. I mean why would anyone want to do that to someone? And they made everyone walk around naked in the brutal weather conditions. I just......wow.......can't imagine. It's just so sad!

I completely agree. The Holocaust was an awful, awful thing to happen, but it's still very interesting to learn about.

I guess it has something to do with how people love to stop and stare at car crashes, etc. I don't know.

Yeah I almost got sick, and the first day we watched part of it I just covered my eyes. Then everytime I wanted to look up, a scary picture came up And I probably saw the worst ones...

Same. I never expected to see that. Like my teacher didn't warn us it was that graphic...

Oh wow. Yeah I heard the hair thing too. People actually like...okay so I left the second day and people actually TOLD me what happened when I was gone. I was like, that's why I left? And they told me that baby and hair stuff. And then using the babies as target practice So terrible.

Personally I didn't think that represented what those people suffered. Yeah it shows WHO did it, but not WHAT they did.
