Hi Everyone,

Ok so my family (3pp) are going to disney from 12/12-12/19

Questions: 1. How many days dining does that include if we are there for what disney constitutes 7 nights/8 days? We are just a little confused hehe...

2. If we made ADR and do not cancel but forget or don't show up they cannot charge for the meal correct? or am i just confused!!!

3. If we do not have ADR and we attempt to go to a restaurant without one will we have difficulty getting in???

We are all looking forward to our trip as it is our first one together in a over 4 years! But this dining plan has given us something different to think about hahaha

Thank you all in advance for your help and Happy Holidays!!!!

Krista

hi everyone,

dining follows the number of nights at your resort, so you would have seven nights of dining

2. If we made adr and do not cancel but forget or don't show up they cannot charge for the meal correct? Or am i just confused!!!
that depends on the reservation... If you left a credit card on file (i.e. Crt, princess storybook, fdp, etc) you will be charged... If it's a "regular" no credit card required adr then you will not be charged for a missed reservation... However, it is good form to at least attempt to call and let the restaurant know if you know in advance...

3. If we do not have adr and we attempt to go to a restaurant without one will we have difficulty getting in???
yes, you will likely encounter one of two scenarios... A long wait, or turned away... However, you could get lucky, esp at "off" times like when a restaurant first opens, during fireworks in that park, or lunch time...

enjoy!

If you are on a dining plan you receive your dining credits based on the number of nights you stay (7 nights). The number of credits per person that nets you will be based on which dining plan you are using.

Some reservations require prepayment in full or a credit card hold. If you miss a reservation like this without canceling it, you WILL be charged. There are very few instances where you have to leave a credit card guarantee or prepay.

If we do not have ADR and we attempt to go to a restaurant without one will we have difficulty getting in???

Depends on the restaurant and the time of year/day you are trying to enter. I will say that the dining plan has made the popularity of the TS restaurants explode, although some are more popular than others. If you want to be sure you will be able to eat in a certain place without being turned away or waiting a long time, make a reservation.

Thanks, i have another question, what restaurants would you suggest at the different resorts for Table Service, say what would be your Top 5 and what is the easiest way to get to the different resorts!!!!

Thanks Again!
Krista

Most of my top 5 don't accept the dining plan. You may also wish to ask that question on the main Restaurant board as this board is more for questions about how to make reservations and how the reservation system works.

As for getting to resorts from a resort, unless you have a car or take a cab, it is not easy. With the exception of the resorts linked by the monorail, the Epcot area resorts, and POFQ/POR, you can't move between resorts without taking a bus to a park or Downtown Disney and transferring to the bus for the resort you want to go to. This will take a long time. It's usually suggested to allow around an hour to an hour and a half just for the travel time.

non-park restaurants that i would say offer the most disney-esque experience would be the character meals like chef mickey's at the contemporary, 'ohana at the polynesian, and 1900 park fair at the grand floridian... we are also fans of whispering canyon at the wilderness lodge...

OP, as you are leaving in a week, if you want character meals, you really do need to try and make reservations for them now.

My five favorite places to eat at the Disney resorts are:

1. Ohana at the Polynesian (dinner)- Family style Asian inspired meal with steak, turkey, shrimp, pork. Ukelele player and coconut races are a lot of fun, but if that's not your cup of tea the later reservations usually miss the festivities and are easier to get. Also, if you schedule it right you can watch the fireworks! take the monorail from Magic Kingdom or any other place along the monorail route.

2. Sanaa at Kidani Village,Animal Kingdom Lodge- Indian-inspired food with windows at ground level that look out onto the savannah. Pretty laid back with delicious food! Take the bus from any of the theme parks.

3. Kona at the Polynesian (breakfast or dinner)- I've walked in here when they first opened for dinner. Also Asian inspired and absolutely delicious at breakfast and dinner!

4. 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian (breakfast)- Great character interaction! Lots of fun and good food! I've heard good things about dinner too but have never been. Take the monorail from the Magic Kingdom or the bus from any other park

5. Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge (anytime!)- Always lots of fun! Great homestyle food and wonderful interaction with the cast members! Don't come here if you want a calm quite, meal though! Take the Boat from Magic Kingdom or the bus from any other park

i am hoping my mom and i make our 12/12-12/18 trip. (worried due to medical state of my mom)
BUT

hoping and praying she is better

we will run into you! how cool. we're eating at a lot of fab places

hope your trip is magic(ally delicious!):rotfl:

totally agree--MAKE RESSIES NOWWWWWWW!

:eek: popcorn::

my top fave restaurants are:

1. california grill--flatbread, salads, steak. oh myyyyyyyyy

and the view, get out of here. can not be beat.

2. jiko- lavender ice cream so light and refreshing & their atmosphere. gorgeous!

3. chef mickey's --hands down, best character experience. from my last trip we probably got 20 pictures. food lasts for a meal, memories last a life time

4. kona cafe- for dinner! the steak om nom nom. the cona kone! de-lishhhh

5. 50s prime time--the onion rings, fried chicken, smores and theme amazinggggggg

this time, we have a lot more ADRs at places we haven't tried. i am super excited for 1900, tutto, via, la hacienda, and citricos!

We'll be there about the same time!! Another idea would be to check the December ADR Cancellation thread - a WONDERFUL DIS'er who no longer needed her Chef Mickey reservation alerted me to when she would be canceling her ADR and I was able to pick it up!! Am THRILLED to be able to take my grandson to breakfast at Chef Mickey's!! Only ONE MORE WEEK! Yea!

(Boy, is it hard to concentrate on work and it's only MONDAY!!)
