Okay here are my variety of questions that I am hoping you can all answer:

1. What is the best camera to take action photos--make kids all play football, basketball and baseball? I currently have a Canon SLR ( I think). I like it, but cannot get good action pics.

2. Can anyone recommend a good/cheap(er) camera to take to WDW that takes good fireworks, action photos and is small enough to carry around.

What is your Canon model? If it is a film SLR and you have a collection of lenses already, then you might want to consider a Canon DSLR. I find it strange that you cannot get a nice action picture with a SLR. It may just be a matter of knowing what settings to use. Also, if it is film, what speed is the film you use?

If you want something more like a p&s camera, then check out the S2 and S3 from Canon. If you want something a little cheaper, then look at the Canon "A" line.

What kind of lens are you using on your SLR? You might just need to get another/different lens to get better results. Try the 85mm f/1.8 for the basketball shots (with a high speed film like ISO 800 or 1600), though on a film SLR maybe something a bit longer might work better. For the outdoor football and baseball, so long as its daytime you should do well with a 70-300mm and 800 speed film. You might want to try 1600 speed though it will have more grain in the prints. A really nice lens is 70-200mm f/2.8, either Canon's or Sigma's. Its expensive though, but optically is wonderful. Having a lens with a small f/number (which means its a wider aperture to allow more light) is what your looking for.

Upgrading to a Canon dSLR is an option. You wont have to worry about which film to use as you can change the ISO right in the camera from shot to shot. I'm not completely familar with Canon, but lens compatability probably wouldn't be an option. Though you'll still need a fast lens for the sports (fast meaning a wide aperture {aka small f/number})

Any P&S camera can take good fireworks pictures. Just attach it to a tripod and set to shutter or manual priority, set ISO to 200 f/stop to f/8 or f/11 and use a 2-6 second shutter speed depending on the effect you want.
