Help! Question on trading into DVC through RCI, should this be posted here?

Hello!

I am not sure if this is where I should post this but I am needing some help. I have a timeshare through RCI and put in a trade for ANY DVC property 3 weeks ago, I still have not heard anything and I am getting nervous as we would like to go in November 2011 for our honeymoon...

My question is do any of you know if this ever works trading in? I am thinking of booking a Pop Century for a week just in case this does not work...I would love a villa, even a studio at any of the deluxe resort though!

We have enough points they said and I did it 11 months out...

I have read many posts where people have been able to trade in to DVC from RCI.

I think that it takes time, however, so maybe you just have not had people deposit that time yet.

Thank you! My anxiety is high b/c it is my honeymoon and I just want it to be perfect! We are getting married on the DCL and then going to WDW for a week and I am getting a photo shoot at MK so money is flying out the window! lol By trading in with RCI it saves me ALOT and I would get much better accomadations...I think I will give it at least another 2 months and then go to my back up plan!

You might want to do a search in this forum because there is a bit more to it than just waiting. It has to do with your RCI trading power as well - and maybe weeks or points (not sure if that's RCI or other timeshares). But I did a quick search of this forum just using the words "RCI power" (without the quotes) and pulled up a number of threads where the trading experts chimed in with advice.

It sounds as though you have a Weeks account, not a Points account. If you would take any size unit, at any resort, you have an excellent shot, provided your deposit has a trade power of at least 25 or better, *and* you are not talking about Thanksgiving week. (Though, even with Thanksgiving, you have a fair chance, I think.) But, you do have to be patient. I've seen only a handful of November deposits, but there have been a few in the past month.

You would also be wise to make a back-up reservation that you could cancel if your desired exchange does not happen.

As long as trade power isn't an issue, you listed all DVC resorts and put in for a 1 BR or smaller, and you're not looking at Thanksgiving, I would expect success. Right now there isn't much in RCI from DVC. I'd predict success in April for the parameters I noted.

Yes it is a week we have, Red time, and yes they said it was worth 28 points..

We are looking for the first week of November which is the week BEFORE the kids are off for teachers convention, I am hoping that works in our favor...

I was also thinking of doing a back up reservation in case this does not work out but I am going to give it at least another month or two I think...

Just to give you hope: We traded through RCI and got 2 weeks in September 2011 (2 bedroom both weeks). 1st at BCV and 2nd at OKW. It can happen.

That week should not be a problem. It might still be a little early to book for November. I have traded in for a week during july 4th and the week before Christmas so your week should not be a big deal. I would really start calling in April. Most of the weeks start either on Friday or Saturday from what i have seen. Don't know if that makes a difference to you.

If the week starts on Friday we will just have to stay at Pop Century Thurs and start our reservation on Friday...We will be on a Disney Cruise for our wedding and get off on Thursday the 3rd! We are sooo excited!!!

DVC exchanges always start on either a Friday, a Saturday, or a Sunday. You will need something else for Thursday night.

Yeah! Great news! I saw a few 2BR's the beginning of the week. All resorts except BLT. Hope you have a very magical honeymoon.
