:cool1: Could somebody please help I am looking for information on which rides and attractions wil suit me, DD(2) and DW(5 months pregnant)? I've been told DW will not even be allowed to ride the safari at AK due to her being pregnant is this true?

Unless this is a new rule at AK Safari ride, it's not true. I've seen several pregnant women ride. Now they may suggest that she not ride it as it's very bumpy ride.
Check out this website, it has restrictions listed for all rides. http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/rr.htm

She will be 'allowed' to ride anything she wants to ride, but warning signs will help guide her away from the attractions that really aren't suited to pregnant women (for various reasons).

The Safari is very bumpy and jerky in places (sometimes more so, sometimes less so), making it a slight risk for Baby. Other attraction restrictions may be less obvious (the ride vehicle may put Mom in an awkward position, cutting down on the blood/oxygen supply to Baby, etc), so it becomes an individual decision as to whether or not she wants to ride. Disney CM's won't stop her, but the warnings are (IMO) a good guage as to what's ok and what's not.

I went when I was 6 months pregnant. DD is now 15 so it was a long time ago. I enjoyed it, but had to pace myself. We did a park and then took a break at a water park the next day or shopping. I obviously didn't do things like roller coasters, but still had a great time. Can't help you with Safari, AK wasn't there.

(I love these posts - am I the only one to think - "help? you need help??? doncha know... or is it just that time of day and I'm just silly now? )

Anyway, dont believe I did this, but I was 5 months pregnant with my last, took DS to Disney as a last hurrah (9 and 11 yrs age between boys and dd!! 25 years married, ya think we couldve figured it out better!! :rotfl: )

I rode Space Mountain!! (I'm just now remembering that last 2 weeks of that pregnancy I was confined to bedrest too... hmmm)

Have her talk it over with her doctor - same thing with the plane rides - somee do, some dont... (and hair dying - can one dye their hair when pg?? used to be ok, not anymore...)think about it, and do what's right for you, your family, your child's future!! With so many lawsuits so many so easily to sue, that so much of the warnings are on the side of caution, so many of the warnings are common sense tho too - bumping rides... Of course I've also been an an automobile accident, I can assure you THAT's not allowed, but we all came out unscathed... ptl!!

Yes you will be able to ride safari. Wife has been on it while pregnant with two kids. I know the ride has the normal warnings, but wife said it was no rougher than riding in a truck on a rough road. Same for Test Track and wife did go on Soarin, but I don't remember if there were any warnings for that one.

I don't want to tell you that it is OK for her to ride the Safari, because that is truly up to her doctor. However, out of the 50+ times I have been to WDW, at least 15 of those were while I was pregnant. I swear I felt like I was pregnant for 5 years straight. Anyway, when I talked to my doctor (who by the way visits WDW quite often) he said I could definately do Splash Mountain, and said that there was "No problem at all with the Safari" his reasoning was that it's as bad as a bumpy car ride. He said that if I had been close to delivery he may suggest I avoid it, but when I was 6 months that it really wouldn't be a problem. Then again, I run every day (even when I am pregnant) and the baby was probably used to bumping around anyway, lol. :confused3

I've ridden also, but each person has to decide how they feel.

Jenn

If you go to the official WDW website and perform a search for the word expectant, you should get a list of all the rides that have warnings for expectant mothers.

Good luck!

Eww...I don't know about the safari trucks...you really can get bounced around on those things. I'd say the jarring/banging on that one is a bigger danger than something like ToT.

::yes::
They won't prevent you from riding anything, but the warnings are there.

There are signs posted by ALL rides stating restrictions. Obviously, I wouldn't ride any rollercoasters, but I don't think the safari would hurt.

The safari ride does state that expectant mothers should not ride, but.....I have rode when I was 4 months pregnant and a friend of mine rode at 6 months...I have seen other pregnant women riding too....but this is up to your wife and how she feels.

I rode safari when I was 4 months pregnant but nothing else that had warnings.

I went to Disney when I was about 4 months pregnant. I went on lots of rides but unfortunatly I ended up delivering at 6 months and my little guy did not make it. While I cannot say the rides did anything to me for the rest of my life I am left wondering "what if".

I say if they suggest pregnant women not ride I would follow that restriction but of course I have a past to guide me that way.

So very sorry for your loss Twinprincesses.

I have to say I agree with your advice to the OP.

Hi

Hubby and I went on one last trip before our lives changed for the better and I was about 10 weeks pregnant. Did not ride any roller coasters or things like Star Tours (simulator (sp?) rides). But I did do Safari, no problem. I thought it would stink but still had plenty of rides and attractions that were ok. If anything it gave me a chance to discover other things about the parks and relax and take my time. So tell you wife to enjoy and just use common sense. I remember how exhausted I was each day and that I still had no appetite and my husband ending up eating his meal and most of mine.

Have fun!
