I actually have a 2 part question. First of all when planning a WDW trip I usually start almost 2 years before we plan on going. I know when we will go, where to stay, even where we are eating months ahead of time. But most important I know what promos and deals are going around. Well there may be a possible 2011 trip in September or October and I have no idea what the current deal is (if there is one). Also this would be for 2 people so this leads me to my other question...

The only thing holding me back from taking a week long vacation at WDW with only DH is my guilt I feel leaving the kids. We have taken them to WDW twice before. We did cancel our last Dec trip partly because we had to be adults (finances) and partly because the 2 oldest kiddos didn't want to miss school (school had no problem with it). The kids are not as Disney crazy and DH and myself. They don't like to plan it or talk about it much (one of my kiddos didn't even want to discuss what we would be doing there while on the plane to Orlando). They do like it while we are there but it's nothing like the kids you see on TV. In fact they had more fun at our state's fair and I'm not exaggerating. Now while I may get bashed because it looks like I cancelled my kid's trip so I can take and adults only trip, I can assure you that there is another family trip already planned (either WDW or DLR...they would rather go to DLR). But I feel guilty for even thinking about doing this. At least I feel better just for getting this off my chest.

I guess I'm just a horrible parent. Maybe we should go someplace else.

If you were going to Las Vegas, would you feel guilty? You said that even though your kids enjoy Disney, when they are there, that they would rather go to Disneyland and they don't like missing school. I say, take your trip, letting them know you will bring them to Disneyland next time!

As far as being bad parents, no way!

Thanks for the reply. My DH and I have never been anywhere alone together. We finally have the means to take a couples only vacation. We planned a cruise but since my DH got the Disney bug (I was born in California so we are born with the bug) there is no other trip that he would rather go on. I guess I feel bad since we cancelled the Dec 2010 trip. But in reality my kiddos were not too upset by this. I think they would be very upset if we went without them but if no one went they wouldn't care (does this even make sense?). Like I said, they were even more excited about the state fair...they talked about it for weeks. My DH and I are obsessed with all things Disney....esp the travel channel shows that my kids walk out on.
