My family and I, DH, DD 6 and DS 2 are heading to Disney World in Feb for 8 days! We are very excited! We have been before but usually for only 3-4 days so this long of stay is going to be great and we hope relaxing in a Disney way. Now my problem lies in that we LOVE the Poly and have stayed their before with only my daughter. So right now I have the Poly booked for our trip. But I am second guessing myself and thinking about doing 2 nights at a mod and then the last 5 nights at the AKV 1 bedroom. My thought process is that my son 2 still needs to go back everyday for a nap and he goes to bed earlier than the rest of us so I am thinking a 1 bedroom is the way to go so we can have some freedom around bedtimes. Now we love the connivence of the Poly but would the space of AKV make more sense? Unfortunalty BLT does not have any 1 bedroom ava as that would be our first choice and my husband was very leery of the BCV as he saw some photos and they looked like they were ready for a rehab.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you so much!

I think bcv just had a refurb. You might be looking at old photos. I could be wrong but I did some research on the resort a few months ago when I was thinking about staying there. I'm sure there are some dvc people that can help you out.

We have been in your exact situation with DS4. When he was 1, we had one room at the Poly. He napped in his stroller, but at night when lights went out for his bedtime, my DH and I felt trapped! We have been on four other WDW trips since and we now always either book two rooms (we have never had problems getting connecting rooms) or a 1 bedroom villa depending on price. Sometimes the 1 bedroom is cheaper, sometimes 2 rooms are cheaper.

If your son will not nap in his stroller and you have to go back to the room, I would choose a resort, in your price range, that is as close to the parks as possible. I love AKL, but unless you are spending a lot of time at AK, that is going to be a hike to get back for a nap! Personally, I would price out the following:

A 1-bedroom at VWL or two regular rooms at WL - so close to MK and most likely, more cost effective than my other suggestions
2 rooms at CR or 2 GV rooms at Poly (keep checking BLT!)
A 1-bedroom at BCV or BWI or 2 rooms at BC, YC or BWI - walk to EP, boat to DHS without ever folding a stroller!

We just stayed at BC and loved it. Or have you considered two rooms at a mod to get more space and keep costs down? I just personally like to be closer to the parks. Again highly suggest looking into VWL.

I agree with this :thumbsup2. AKL is a great resort and we didn't think the transportation was bad (although we don't have little ones), but it can take some time to get back just for a nap. I would also keep checking for BLT......you never know when something might become available :wizard:.

We stayed in connecting rooms at CR. We enjoyed the ease of walking to/from MK and taking the monorail. Also liked boat to FW for HDD for dinner.

Also stayed in connecting rooms at the Swan and it was nice to be able to walk to/from Epcot and Studios as well as have the option of the boat. Love the entire Boardwalk area!

Have also stayed in a Cabin at FW and enjoyed this too. It is great to take the boat to/from MK.

Good luck deciding and have a great vacation.

Our family loves AKL, and have not found the transportation bad at all, but our kids all sleep in a stroller when needed, so we weren't going back and forth for naps. If you are going to be spending time at Epcot, BCV is a nice walk and I'm pretty sure you must have seen old pictures, I think they're all refurbed now. :confused3 If you're going to be at MK a lot, then I like the suggestion of VWL. The location is pretty good for going back and forth a lot.

Don't forget if you were to stay at the Boardwalk Inn or Boardwalk Villas then you are the closest Epcot Resort to Hollywood Studios, so when using the walkway that goes there it should take you about 15 minutes.

Plus when going to Epcot via the Boat it's the next stop after it leaves the Boardwalk and when returning to the Boardwalk via the Boat they are the 1st stop when it goes in the reverse order. So that's great to know if you don't feel like walking.
