Hello All! We are going to do a weekend trip for my son's birthday in July. (July 27-29 and he actually turns 3 on the 29th) (we can't change dates to earlier b/c hubby can't take off again till July) He is turning 3 so we wanted to get one last trip in while he is free and a weekend trip is still economical. I need opinions and help though. We are staying at pop. Never stayed value so a tad nervous. (moving up is NOT an option as this trip needs to be cheap to work) Our plan is get down friday around lunch and enjoy the pools and head to DD for the evening. Saturday we plan to do MK (will it be too hot and miserable?) My kiddos usually do fine and we don't leave for naps. MK is awesome and we LOVE it, however should we consider another park? DH wants to do AK with kiddos at some point since we have never done it with them but it closes so early and we only have one day of park tickets. However, I wonder if we could actually do more b/c it would be less crowded? What do you guys suggest? WE want to make the most of this "little" trip as we prob wont be able to come back for at least 18 months. What do you suggest? I think we are going to do regular dining plan (we usually do deluxe b/c we dont like qs) However, I think reg plan is better than no plan because at least we will know up front how much we are spending. Right now for dining I am thinking Fri night - Earl of Sandwich (one of few quick service we really enjoy!) Sat Breakfast qs breakfast in hotel lunch (use snack credits) dinner at 'Ohana and Then Sun I have Chef Mickey for his REAL birthday breakfast before we head home. However, if we switch from MK to a different park this could change. WE have never had 'ohana but from the reviews feel we have to try it and we don't really care for TS in MK. Any help or thoughts would be AWESOME. Also, do any of you guys have ways to make most of your snack credits for lunch? Thank you for any help!!! :goodvibes

I should mention we live in very south AL so we are use to heat and humidity as it's hot here in the summer as well. I am mainly worried about crowds. However, when we were there in November crowds were quite heavy. (kept reg park hours till 12 am b/c of crowds) However, I don't want to be stressed planning (although I am type A personality hehe) however, I want to have enough of a plan to make this fun for everyone. I should mention my other child is a 6 year old little girl in case that helps. :goodvibes

Your plan sounds good to me. Since you know your kids love MK and the heat isn't foreign to them, I would say stick with it. There are actually many attractions that are good for cooling off at MK. (Philharmagic, Pirates, Small World, TTA, etc.) I personally don't feel the same is the case for AK. That always seems like the hottest park to me.

Once when our DDs were 4 and 2, I took them to AK for the day while my husband had some work in Orlando.(We are AP holders.) They enjoyed themselves, but as we got ready to head home, DD4 says, "I thought we were going to Disney today." LOL. We've only returned to AK on longer trips, and even then only for half a day. Even if it isn't very crowded, we don't feel that there is that much to do there, unless you really love seeing all the different animals. If I only had one day and it was a special celebration, I would definitely go with MK.

We feel the same as you regarding MK TS dining options. I think you will enjoy 'Ohana. We make it a point to go once a year. It is unique, and the kids love the entertainment. Make sure everyone gets leis when you enter the Polynesian :-).
