Help...please!!!

Hi everyone!
It seems like this forum is very helpful, and I am hoping you all can give me some good advice.
We are planning trip to WDW for the end of Sept - the first part of October. My hubby has been deployed for our last 2 trips, so this is our first family trip since he has been home. He is not a huge Disney fan so I thought a day at either Universal or IOA would be good for him. He likes coasters and thrill rides. But he is also a huge Simpson fan. So I am torn between which park to go to. The plan is also for he and another one of our travel companions to go to Horror Nights. I was hoping to do a day at either Universal or IOA and let them stay while we take the other rental car bak to WDW. so here are my questions:
1) Can both parks be done in 1 day if we pick our top attractions in each and do those first.
2) Will the regular attractions be open durning HHN? So if we choose to go to IOA he could still enjoy the Simpsons ride at night.
3) Does HHN start in Sept? Like the last weekend of Sept which is around the 26th. Or is it in Oct only?
4) How much are tickets for HHN? And is there anything special we need to know so he can get the biggest bang for his buck?

Here are my answers:
1.) Both parks can be done in a day if you're only doing the bigger rides.
2.) Most regular attractions are open during HHN but it depends upon which park is hosting. Last year, the big rides at the Studios were open during HHN except the ones that were being used as a house.
3.) HHN usually starts the last weenend in September but the official schedule won't be out until later this summer. HHN usually runs through the first weekend in November depending on the dates.
4.) The ticket prices won't be out until this summer but if you're trying to save a little money, go on an off-peak night (Thursday and Sunday). I would recommend buying Express Passes for HHN as the lines get long really fast and the EP's are good for all participating attractions as well.
