I just agreed to buy 160 points at AKV and I was told I should have the contract in a week or so. Now I wish I would have taken dev. points instead of $8 off. Is it too late for me to change my mind since I haven't sign (or even received) the contract? They said the deposit would be taken yesterday. I was also told they would email my numbers to me so I could book but haven't received them yet. The person I bought from only works Mon to Thur so I can't call her until Monday. Also, one other question. My use year is Aug. Someone from work bought about 2 months ago at SS and his use year is Sept. He got 200 points when he bought in May and then is getting another 200 when his use year starts in Sept. Is that because his use year is 3 mos from when I bought and my use year starts the following month? Or do you think that is a special they were having then and he didnt realize it. He claims if I am buying now, I should get my points now and then more when I hit my use year. I am very new to this so any help you can provide would be great. I am so excited. Now if we can get AKV for our Jan trip it would be great. We are getting married on 12/29 and heading straight for Florida.

I would think that it isn't too late to make a change if you haven't signed anything. At least that wasn't my experience.

I paid my downpayment on a Sept 07 UY contract for AKV and then read on the DISboards about a possible Feb 2007 UY. My guide happened to be on vacation for two weeks while I was going through the process, so I went through another guide to make my initial purchase and then to change my contract. The change was a quick and easy process. I would definitely try to make the change so you are happy with what you get.

I was told by the guide that Feb 2007 UY was only going to be offered for a few days, so I don't know if that's available anymore. Perhaps March 2007 UY is? Ask your guide. It's my understanding that you can't get Aug 2006 points if you buy AKV, as 2006 AKV points don't exist. I think you can only get the 2006 UY points if you buy SSR.

Call your guide but I don't think so. We changed our mind 3x before final contracts were signed.

We told him 160 initially, then before he sent those out we told him 180. Then the friends and family promo came along and he sent out another set up because we increased the points to 220.

I think it will be fine.

Thanks for your quick response. Iwill call tomorrow and see if someone other than my guide can help me. :goodvibes

Any idea how long it will take before I get the numbers I need to book? I am really hoping to get AKV for our trip. We are staying at the Dolphin for 12/30 and 12/31 and I was hoping to be able to switch over to AKV on 01/01. I am sure CL is just a dream since there are limited rooms and it is almost Aug now.

There was an error on my paperwork and when I spoke to DVC QA, they are the group that fields questions about the DVC paperwork, you'll see it on the package you get in the mail. He said that it happens all the time, so you can call them or your guide and tell them you want the developer points instead. It may kick back to your guide first, so its always good to start there.

I chose developer points and it worked out better financially for me, especially with the double developer points deal they are doing now.

The day you get your FedEx package you can call and make reservations. Your member number is in there and you can book right away. I booked 4 reservations already. :)

ScottakaMickey, how long did it take for your paperwork to arrive? My guide said she would email the member info I needed to book but I never received the email.

Just FYI...my guide actually helped me make reservations before my paperwork arrived. Since I didn't yet have my membership number, he called reservations for me and we were on a three way call. I was able to check availability and secure my dates before I ever received my paperwork.

But I think if you got the membership info by email, it would also work to do make reservations yourself.

Your guide can check availability and 3-way you on a call to make reservations with MS.

I did my paperwork with my guide last Saturday. The box from Disney with all of the official papwerwork and my member numbers arrived Tuesday. I contacted Disney about my problem on Thursday and he said I should have the replacement paperwork by Monday or Tuesday. It seemed to me that they move very fast.

My package was simple. 160 Points at AKL with me choosing the double developer point option. I also got a Feb07 UY. As of today all of this years points are gone and also all of my developer points are gone. So, its been a very hectic DVC week.

Glad to see QA was able to resolve your issue so quickly (I saw your other post several days ago, but never saw how it turned out). And congrats on 4 reservations already!!! :yay:

Sorry for the newb questions, but what does UY mean? I've looked at the abbreviations threads and don't see it in there.

Thanks!
