Hello

I am looking to acquire some points to be transferred to my DVC account. How does this work? How should I proceed with a transaction when I find another DVC member willing to trade?

The renter is always the one taking the risk in these transactions. But there have not been many instances reported of people getting burned. Disney will not get involved in any of this.

I have transferred points to another member in the past. We set up the transaction via PayPal. Once I received the payment we made a 3-way conference call to MS and the renter heard the entire transaction. It was fairly simple. There are recommendations in the FAQ threads for contracts. We didn't do this, but through PayPal I did sent the renter an invoice which was paid. This way there was some documentation of what the payment was for.

How many points did you need? You might get a PM off of this thread. Do a search of the person's posts and see if you feel comfortable with them. Good luck!

I do not think the risk is that great as I have seen at least one story of a member losing their membership because of deceptive practices.

I just completed a transfer of 4 pts to another member. For 4 pts, I just did it and asked him to send me compensation afterwards. On a larger transfer, I would expect some form of upfront payment.

It all comes down to trust. If you can't trust a fellow disney lover, who can you trust?
