Have been reading the thread regaring upgrading to PE with VH. We have booked to go next Oct (08) and decided I would like to upgrade but have been quoted in excess of £1800+ (me, DH,DD & DS)

When would you advise me to try to upgrade again - £1800 is way too expensive.

I would guess that Obi is away....

£450 per person sounds pretty normal to upgrade from Economy to PE - would certainly expet £300+ per person, depending on what you originally paid. What is your base airfare cost per person?

The deals that some people have got recently are EXCEPTIONAL - doesn't mean it wont happen again, but does mean that paying £25 to £100 a person to upgrade to PE (both ways) is not something that you see often.

Saying that, the current deals seem to have coincided with the Virgin Economy/PE sale to the US - people already paid reasonable economy fares and are just being charged the fare difference (and sometimes a change fee) to upgrade..

You. booking does not fall within the "sale window" - which is 22nd August - 9th October and 24th October to 14th December. The best hting you can do is to KEEP looking every time there is a Virgin PE sale: they always have a sale in August/September and January and I assume that they will have another one about the same time next year (so June/July).

I would guess that your flights would still be outside the sale availability window in August/September. You might be lucky in January, but are most likely to be lucky next June/July.

WHEN in October 08 are you going? IF it is in the half term period, then I think that you will be out of luck - if you notice this year, the half term dates have been "blackout out" of the PE/Economy Sale (this is because VS never have a problem selling seats on planes to Orlando at half term...)

VH have just quoted me £295 for myself and £198 for DD, one way.
That's for May 2008 - think I can think of better things to spend £500 on

We fly out of manchester on 24 October returning 7/8 Nov so outside of half term bracket (I hope)
