My husband gave me a wonderful surprise. A volkswagen beetle painted by pixar artists to look like Francis from "A Bug's Life".

It's signed by John Lassater and many of the other producers and executives involved with the movie as well as a voice character or two.

I'm trying to insure it. I'm not sure what the value might be other than it being a very cool restored vw bug.

Apparently I can't post pictures or links yet since I'm a new poster. :confused3

Is this a full size beetle? Get some posts up, I'd love to see it!!!

Well you're up to 4.....DBF and I keep saying that when DD9 turns 16 we are giving her a beetle painted like a ladybug, because her nickname is very close to ladybug, just switch the L with another letter and that's it. :) I would post it but I hesitate to put the girls' names on public boards. :) I can't wait to see your car!!!!

I can't wait to show him off. I just befriended a person at Pixar and apparently there is a Pixar car show!

eleventh! :)

Francis with John Lasseter

Note that DH is not an expert but based on what he see's here, if it was his, he would insure it for $500K just to be sure that if anything happened, he would be covered.

He thinks at the right auction and at the right time this will fetch a pretty penny.

I have him insured for 10k now, which is double what we just paid but I know we should have paid much more.

I think the artwork probably needs to be appraised separately as it's pretty unique and original. You can even see the pencil marks from before Lasseter filled in the characters.

I would think it would be hard to get that appraised. Do you drive it often or is it kept inside most of the time. The art work looks cool but I would make sure I kept the car from rusting or getting any stone chips while driving.

I would think that it would need to be looked at by an art dealer to get a value.

Francis is mainly a show car. He won his first car show (that we entered him in at least) on Saturday!

The car is probably valued at 10k without the artwork.
