DH and I are going for Free Dining in late September. Here are our restaurants so far:

Mama Melrose (Fantasmic Package)
Le Cellier
Boma (Dinner)
Coral Reef
Grand Floridian Cafe
Boma (Breakfast)

We were thinking about trying the Wave our first night there, but I'm having second thoughts.

Please recommend a good (1) credit restaurant for our first night. DH doesn't like characters, so those meals are out. We have APs, so we can go into the parks if we want. What are your thoughts??

Where are you staying? And if you were to go to a park that 1st nite- which one woudl u prefer?

I dont see any character dining on there? I would say Chef Mickeys!! If you can get in it is a must do!

We made an impromtu reservation at the Whispering Canyon Cafe on our last night. The boat ride to the WL was relaxing and we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I recommend it. It is a little loud, but still, so fun.

We are staying at the Pop. We will likely go to DTD in the afternoon, then we might go to the Magic Kingdom in the evening. There is a slim chance we will go to MNSSHP that night, but I think we'll save that for a Tuesday instead to avoid the crowds.

Characters freak DH out, so those are out. :confused3 I was thinking we could head to Epcot for dinner, but it will be the first night of the F&W Festival and I don't want to go if it's going to be wicked crowded.

Are there any resort restaurants we should check out?

Just curious as to why you are having 2nd thoughts on The Wave? It was one of the best meals of our last trip. Really great food, great service, relaxing atmosphere. All in all a nice meal. Or what about Kona Cafe? We have eaten there 3 times over the years and always had a good meal.

The menu for the Wave doesn't really jump out at me. You enjoyed it? What did you have? Do you have any pics? Maybe all I need is a little encouragement to try something new!

We stayed at the Poly on our honeymoon a few years ago. We were both so exhausted from the wedding (and moving into and renovating our first house!) that we were both sick our entire trip. We were on the dining plan and ate at Kona almost every day since we were too tired to leave the hotel. Our whole honeymoon was eating at Kona, sleeping, walking around the beautiful gardens at the resort and playing Pirates of the Caribbean pinball in the game room. DH said it was one of the best vacations ever!:rotfl2: The Kona staff were so nice. They made me chicken soup and brought us special desserts. We ended up going home a few days early and were able to get our money back for the room. We bought a few strangers lunch and dinner with our extra meal credits. So, the Kona Cafe will always hold a place in my heart. That honeymoon was wonderful, even with being sick!

I'm always happy to recommend Biergarten at Epcot. Large buffet with something for everyone and wonderful entertainment!

Teppan Edo at Epcot is good, like Benihana. House of Blues in DTD is good also, try the Voodoo Shrimp W/Rosemary Cornbread app, it's delicious & the ribs are good too. Tony's at MK is good, the New York Strip & Pistachio Creme Brulee are delicious. Have fun, whatever you decide.

I have to say, that believe it or not we LOVED Tony's Town Square in the MK. Which since you are planning on going to MK that day might be a good choice location wise. We had the best service of our trip there. Never had to ask for a refill, the waiter (his name was believe it or not, Mark Anthony)was friendly and funny and not impatient with the kids, and the food was really good. DS had the spaghetti and meatballs. DH had the seafood fra diavolo which he said was the best meal of the trip and I had the pork medallions which were also really good. Desert was also good. DS had the cheesecake which has a fun surprise on the plate (the only food of our trip of which I took a photo). The pre-seating area was crowded but we were at our table within 5-10 minutes.

Sorry to hear about your honeymoon! I am glad you still have good memories and I s'pose there are worse places to be trapped than at the Poly! ;)
