Looking for a place to eat for our 25th anniversary dinner.

After searching menus on Allears, narrowed it to these 2.

DH is not into anything but meat & potatoes, so I thought we would eat where we could get filet mignon, like the dinner we had the night he proposed.

But I want to be sure he will get enough food to eat!

Yachtsman has the 8oz filet mignon w/ potatoes, and I figures we could do a dessert to round it out.

However, I am really leaning towards the Surf & Turf @ Narcoossee's because it has the twin medallions of filet mignon as well as lobster tail.

Does anyone know how large the "medallions" are?

Also, they showed no dessert menu on Allears for Narcoossee's.

I admit this is probably a dumb question, but do they have dessert @ Narcoossee's? :confused3

Any comments on the portioning as well as pros & cons of each venue would be appreciated.

I realize we re dealing in opinions here, but I would like to hear them in this case!! ;)

Happy Anniversary!

If you are looking for meat and potatoes (and great ones at that, and in large portions), then Yachtsman Steakhouse is the place. Narcoosee's offers a menu primarily based in seafood with some extras. Yes, they do serve desserts there.

One thing you might consider while you are making your very special dining plans is that you can time your dinner at either location to coincide with nighttime spectaculars. At Yachtsman, eat and then walk or boat over to Epcot for Illuminations at 9pm. From Narcoosee's, if you time it right, you can watch Wishes right from the restaurant, or venture onto the GF beach for viewing.

Have a wonderful time!

Not only does Narcoossee's have dessert, they have my favorite dessert at the world: cherry almond cheesecake. I am a chocolate person normally but it is out of this world.

Do you have any interest in ordering a special cake? It seems like the Yachtsman pastry chefs are currently making better cakes than the GF's. Yachtsman isn't my favorite signature but I think a meat and potatoes person would definitely love it.

Good luck choosing and happy anniversary!

We're going to WDW for our 25th this Nov/Dec also. :cool1::cool1: I've booked a private dining meal at the GF for a surprise for my DH. Its a bit more expensive but I think we deserve it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Happy 25th Anniversary to both of you!!!! Happy Planning!

I have been to both (September 2008) and before that as well. Yachtman's isn't as good as it used to be. Atmosphere is nice if seated in the right place. I would recommend Narcoossee's. Food is amazing at Narcoossee's and if you choose a later reservation, the ambiance is nice too (all candlelit). Yachtman's is okay but nothing memorable...I hate to say. Narcoossee's has personalized menus (you can call ahead and do this) and we celebrated my parent's 35th wedding anniversary there and spent $800 (included specially made wedding cake and everything). We are not rich and I don't regret spending that because it was so amazing and they treated us like royalty. If you book it on the right day........you can see fireworks from MK. Whatever you choose, I hope it is memorable and congratulations!

I agree. I wasn't even a fan of cheesecake until I had this desert!

OP, we too are celebrating our anniversary in WDW (20th) next month. We choose Narcoossees because it is our favorite place to eat. But we decided on this trip we would do a delux ddp trip so we are eating at a signature restraurant every night and it also includes YSH, Citros, CaliGrill, and others. But we did choose Narcoosses because we have always had wonderful service here. As for the Turf and Surf....it's OK, but we do love the filet entree (w/o the turf) here. They do a wonderful potatoe augratin that is great. Of course the appetizers are great here too. We like the water view setting of this restraurant. I'm hoping to love YSH too, but it's just a restraurant and doesn't have the view that Naroossees has.

Narcoossee's is our favorite WDW restaurant. You will find the best filet on property here and incredible seafood. I have had both the surf & turf and whole lobster. Both were incredible and very filling. They also have amazing desserts like the almond crusted cheesecake with cherries and ice cream.

While the service at Yachtsman Steakhouse was impeccable, the food was just under the quality and taste of Narcoossee's. We return to Narcoossee's every trip as a result.

This is their menu including dessert. The DIS has it up. :thumbsup2

Sound like me & your DH are the same. So last April for our 25th we ate at
Cali Grill
Citricos
Narcoossee's
V& A I did this one for my DH it's not for me.

They were all great for me. Got a plain steak at every one @ Narcoossee's got steak & lobester.

HAPPY 25 TH AND MANY MORE :lovestruc

If you have a meat and potatoes guy, I would say YSH. The filet medallions at Narcoossee's are not big at all.

Haven't been to Narcoosee's YET (next time it's just me and DH!), but recently discovered the Yachtsman, and it was the best meal of the trip! DH, DS and I all had the filets, and they were amazing - DH loves filets and is pretty picky about them, and he was very pleased. We loved the scallop appetizer as well, and the chocolate trio for dessert was really rich, but very good. DS and I could not finish our steaks, so our fabulous waiter boxed them up for us - DH loves cold steak for breakfast!:confused3

Really enjoyed it - and the "simple syrup" for our tea was a special treat for this southern girl!

Good luck - from what I have read, you can't go wrong with either one!:goodvibes

My DH is meat & potatoes too. We had a party of 6 adults and we all liked Narcoossee's. DSonIL still talks about the surf n turf LOL The view is an added plus here as well.

The candlelit dinner sounds great, but I am afraid we will miss that w/ the earlier res I want.
Do you have to pay for the personalized menu? Someone else mentioned that he was given them w/out asking - the rest did it on their own.

Big selling point as cheesecake is DH's favorite food group!! :lmao:
I am considering ordering a cake, but pretty much anything would be ok from either place.

Narcoossee's is our favorite WDW restaurant. You will find the best filet on property here and incredible seafood.

Many posts about how good the filet is @ both places, and that is probably what we will have either place.

Thanks for the link to the menu!! Very helpful!! :thumbsup2

Thank-you to everyone for the congrat's and well wishes for our 25th!!
And the same back to all of you who are also celebrating yours, whatever number they are!!
It's nice to see there are actually a lot of people who can still stay married in this day and age!! I thought we were a dying breed!

Thanks for all the advise and tips. I think because of the closeness of reviews for each place, it will come down to Narcoossee's being located where it is.
We will either be renting a boat or sitting on the beach @ Poly to watch the fireworks that night.
So Narcoossee's makes more sense to me since the food seems to be good at both places. :)

Thank-you for all your help!!! :flower3:
