There is a flight from Tampa Bay leaving at 2:40. Would we have time to be able to disembark our cruise and drive to Tampa Bay and make that flight? It is a great deal!

If everything went exactly as planned, barely. It's about a 2.5 hour trip from Port Canaveral to TPA. I'm assuming you'll either have a car parked in the lot or a car service waiting to transport you. If you have to rent a car, it makes it even more doubtful. If your ship is late coming in, you'll never make it. I was on a RCCL cruise about a year ago that didn't get into port until 11:00am due to an unscheduled stop in Miami to unload a sick passenger.

I-4 can sometimes back up, and I've found that car return at the TPA airport is not as efficient as they are at MCO.

If it was me, that's too close for comfort.

Also, if you ar eplanning on using a car service, I'd figure on probably in the $300+ range for transport between the port and TPA, which might eat up any savings.

Let us know what you decide and how it works.

Magic or Wonder? We were off the Magic by about 8:00 or so on our cruise. If you are coming off the Wonder during the week you may hit work/rush hour traffic. Otherwise you should be able to do it.

We are on the Magic. I'm really hoping we will be okay because I went ahead and grabbed the flight. It was $49 each. We still won't be flying to our home airport, but this is the best we've seen so far. We only have 22 days before our cruise, so I'm thinking we won't have any other better deals than this. Thanks again!

I have only ever been on the Magic and I believe you MUST disembark before 9AM.

I'm pretty sure it's 10:00am that you have to be off, but it's been a few years since we cruised DCL, so I could be wrong.

Either way, if there's a situation like we had returning from our RCCL cruise the OP will never make the flight.

If you carry your own luggage off the Wonder you can be off between 0730 and 0800 if docking is normal. The trip to Tampa should run about three hours depending on weekday or weekend. You are on the Magic so you are disembarking on Saturday. Shouldn't be much of a problem with the traffic. You could make it if you don't do much stopping.

I really hope we can make it! We will try to be the first off the ship. We do have to pick up a rental, and I know that will take a while. Have any others done this similar time and been successful?

I don't think many people fly out of Tampa from Pt. Canaveral. It is clear across the state. Since it is Saturday. It will be pretty early in the morning. Just get your bags and grab the rental shuttle and you should hopefully be on your way by 9-9:30 the latest. With about a 2 hour ride to the Tampa area, figure 2.5 hours with not knowing where you are going, gassing the rental back up, etc. You should be there by noonish. You should be fine.
